Meet Nicoletta Bradley of Pop’s Gym in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicoletta Bradley.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nicoletta. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story honestly began after I battled a really bad eating disorder throughout high school and college. I abused food and fitness for years and it wasn’t after years of counseling that I discovered a new found love and passion for fitness. I worked in the weight room at TCU where I went to school and thats where I fell in love with fitness again. I decided to take this new love and turn it into a career. I started by working at lululemon athletica and getting introduced to the Fort Worth fitness scene. I then became a spin instructor at a boutique spin studio in FTW, which led me to getting connected to Pop’s Gym. My goal became to change the conversation in the fitness industry. I wanted to instill confidence in clients toward how they felt about their bodies and how they worked out, rather encourage an unhealthy mindset like I had for so many years of my life.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a road of lots of highs and lows. When you first start out in the fitness industry, you have to build a clientele and build trust with people in order for them to come train with you or take your classes. So the beginning of a career in fitness involves a lot of connecting and time fostering relationships (which I honestly love!) A challenging aspect is probably the unique hours of early mornings (say hello to 5am!) and late evenings. You definitely don’t have a consistent schedule compare to an 8-5pm job! I would say the hardest thing was when I had vocal surgery in the beginning of 2018. I had severe vocal damage due to teaching so many fitness classes and yelling overload music. Thankfully I had a full recovery and can continue doing what I love. Overall I wouldst trade the struggles for anything because it has made be stronger and a better trainer!

Pop’s Gym – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I think what sets me apart is my desire to not only change the way my client’s bodies look but the way they think as well. Everybody wants to lose weight, but unless you change your mindset, nothing rarely sticks. I am known for wanting to give you the hardest workout I can give you, but for you to walk away from my sessions seeing a difference in your body and mind.

Regarding Pop’s Gym, I am most proud of the environment of the gym. It is so community-based. We do events such as ping pong tournaments with members, people know each other’s names and you feel known by the members and the staff. We have a membership cap where we only allow so many clients to join the gym-this allows most equipment to remain available and not give you an overcrowded vibe. I think what sets us apart is the small family feel but upscale service the gym provides. If you want to make some friends while you sweat this is the place!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by the amount of lives I get to touch. I am way more concerned about helping someone, encouraging someone, or seeing an area of one’s life change through working with me than I am the number on my paycheck. I love building my clientele so that my days are filled with sessions on the hour, but mainly getting to spend an hour of people’s days with them and motivate them to change for the better is my main marker of success.
