Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Hurd.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As far back as I can remember, I’ve always loved fashion. I just wasn’t able to afford it! Lol! Once I became of age, old enough to support myself, I stepped up my fashion game. I’ve always been plus size, and I vowed to forever be a positive influencer for other chics that looked like me. I would always get calls and text from people wanting me to help with their outfits. I’d do it and then I’d realize I was doing it for free! I started selling jewelry, then styling, then clothes and voila Nikki Style Co, a full-service style bank and consulting firm was born.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No! No! No! I remember a season in my life when that’s all I would hear. I did not rest there, I kept working, kept praying, kept sewing and kept believing, Then, God ushered me into my winning season. It hasn’t been easy. Being labeled “a church stylist “, not enough resources, etc. All things taught me how to believe in myself and persevere.
Nikki Style Co – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
What sets my company apart from others are the different divisions. I offer wardrobe training and consulting to HR departments, nonprofits, religious institutions and I also create dress codes. Our newest division is artist management and branding. So, it’s more than fashion, it’s lifestyle.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by exceeding my own goals and expectations. Outdoing what Nikki did last year.
