

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Purcell.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Nikki. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My husband Brian was a Lewisville firemen when we started the company over 20 years ago. We started it with him and his brother. (who has sent left the company over 15 years ago) They started with them and used a flatbed trailer to move people. We put an ad in the newspaper and they started booking jobs. We really started booming after 911 and bought enclosed 32′ trailers and hired other firemen to help on days off. I had our first son Colton and then stayed home to answer phones and book the moves for them, We started growing every day and getting so busy we then hired non-firemen so that we could run on days that the firemen were on duty.
I had our second son Garrett and just couldn’t do all the booking alone so hired our first secretary and we ran the business from our home until 2018 and then we moved to our first warehouse/office space and started offering storage for our customers grew to Four moving consultants in the office, an office manager, two operations managers, V.P of operations and warehouse manager. We now have 17 trailers 45 plus full-time movers and Brian has since retired from the fire department and we are focusing on Franchising and growing even more.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not at all.
When first starting Brian worked Every day, If not on duty at the fire station for the 24-hour shift he was personally moving and running a crew. For the first four years of our oldest son’s life, he worked so much that when our son would wake up in the morning he would be gone and when he would go to sleep at night he would be working. We would barely have time for each other or family. We worked seven days a week. There have been many arguments in tears and long long nights. But we have pushed through them and I believe that is what has gotten us to where we are today.
Please tell us about your work. What do you guys do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
We are Firehouse Movers Inc. a full-service moving and storage company. We specialize in moving people’s homes/offices. We are best known I would say for our name and quality of moves (due to amazing crews). We take pride in customer service and satisfaction, We know we can not make everyone happy, but we will definitely do our absolute best so that we know we at least tried and our customers know we will do what we can to make it right. What sets us apart is our quality of service we provide. We may charge by the hour, but anyone who uses us knows our crews hustle (some even run) and we do not take advantage of the hourly price. Our moving consultants strive to make the booking process easy and stress-free as well as the moving crews do out in the field.
