Meet Nivi Srinivasa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nivi Srinivasa.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Everyone has stories to tell and memories they keep close to their heart. For me, photographs were the single snapshot that kept every memory in my head crystal clear. At a very young age, I would take photos of everything whether it be my mom’s birthday party or the time my brother took his first steps. It wasn’t a passion at that time, but honestly, just a way for me to revisit the most cherished times of my life. I would always spend time looking at the pictures I took and remembering those moments as I grew older. My parents got me my first camera at the age of 15, right before our trip to Europe. It was then that my photography went from family photos to something much bigger than that. I was immersed in the beauty of the European countries and couldn’t resist capturing what I saw; I wanted to show people exactly what I saw through my lens. Fast forward many years with the same thought process after that pivotal moment, and I’m currently a travel, portrait and event photographer based in Dallas.

Please tell us about your art.
Since I work with many different types of photography, my message and inspiration change for each one. When I do travel photography and show people my work, I want the picture to scream, be adventurous. One of the most fundamental values in my life is to be adventurous and do what scares me the most. I’ve had amazing experiences such as spending four months in Poland to planning my first solo trip, all things that I never would’ve thought I’d do. I hope that my work challenges people to do the same, to step out of their comfort zone and experience the best moments of their life. On the other hand, my inspiration for both event and portrait photography is mainly to capture those timeless moments in an individual’s life and give them the opportunity to go back to those moments through photos.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
If you have the passion, don’t hesitate to do what you love. It may be cliche, but it’s the truth.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Currently, I post my photos on my Instagram and Facebook page. If you’re interested in my work, please feel free to reach out on those platforms, and I will also have a link to buy my prints in my bio as well!
