Today we’d like to introduce you to Norma Perez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Norma. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started taking Cosmetology class at Cy-Fair High School right outside of Houston. I thought I was just going to do it as a hobby while I was getting my degree. But once I graduated and got my license in 2008, I started working as a receptionist at Images Hair Studio in Cypress and really fell in love with the industry. After working there for 3 years, I moved to the DFW in 2010. Then, in 2012, started working at Scott LeMaster Salon and have been there ever since. I love teaching so I am the lead educator for our assistant program.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of my obstacles was trying to pursue my career while going to college and raising my daughter on my own. Also, having to re-build a clientele in a city where I didn’t know anyone.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in color corrections, balayage, and hair extensions. I think what sets me apart is that I am very education driven. I love learning new techniques. I believe in our industry the worst thing you can do is stop taking education.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always the quiet one yet, I was always playing sports. I played soccer in middle school up to my sophomore year in high school.
