Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Dowling.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’ve been strengthening my photography skills for approximately six years and have learned through small classes, experimentation, and self-teaching. I love using photography as a form of creative expression and enjoy using my skills as a way to bless others by capturing their precious moments. Living in a small town in Texas, there’s plenty of beautiful natural backdrops and a feeling of community. I first started my journey of photography with just my cell phone camera and slowly began to “borrow” my mom’s camera and sneak my brothers outside for many small photo shoots. I then began reaching out to friends and family in hopes of a change of models and was thrilled to see how my skills strengthened after every session. I strive to keep the feeling of family with all my clients and enjoy hearing each individuals special story.
Please tell us about your art.
I am a photographer offering family portraits as well as individuals. I enjoy shooting in natural light and love sweet moments caught between shutter clicks. My goal is to use my skills to bless others with the opportunity to capture precious moments with the ones they love and stunning portraits that show off their best features. I firmly believe a picture is worth a thousand words and that every moment you capture is a precious memory to last a lifetime. I love seeing clients’ smiles when they see the finished product and the sweet smiles caught on camera.
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
With all of the sadness, grief, and chaos in our country right now I believe an artist should capture the fleeting moments of joy and innocent smiles. I believe that as artists, we have the special opportunity to spark joy in the eyes of our clients when their pictures come out just the way they imagined. Portraits of children, grandchildren, families, and individuals help us to remember the special moments where we were brought away from the sadness and forced to purely focus on those we love.
