Meet Omar Alwahban of Texas Tires

Today we’d like to introduce you to Omar Alwahban.

Omar, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Texas Tires was started in 1997 by my Father Abdulkarim Alwahban. After 3 years of being open, business was going well and then one day the shop got broken into. Everything that my father worked hard for was gone. We were on the verge of closing the shop, but my father did not let that stop him. He worked harder to keep the shop open since that was our livelihood. After establishing the business my father finally saved enough money to buy us a house then in 2004 he had a tragic accident and passed away. My oldest sister Marwa Alwahban was 17, Hani Alwahban 15, Mustafa Alwahban 13 and I was 12. My mother just like that turned into a single mom with 4 kids and had no way of supporting our family since that was my father’s role. So my brothers and I decided to enroll in homeschool and work fulltime at Texas Tires to support our family. In a couple years after hard work and dedication we opened our 2nd location in 2008. In 2010 we opened up our 3rd location in Corsicana and from there we developed a system that would help us prosper into the large company we are today. We currently are serving Texas and Arkansas with 27 locations and plan to open 3 more by the end of this year. This year we engineered and developed our own brand of wheels Steel Off Road. We have plans to grow this brand nationwide and showcase our wheels in a couple of years at the Sema show in Las Vegas.

Has it been a smooth road?
The hardest struggle that we had was our father passing away and having to fill his shoes. As for running our business, it’s a struggle everyday trying to micromanage 27 locations but with the love and passion that we have for this industry every struggle is worth it.

Texas Tires specializes in Custom Wheels, Tires and Custom Lift Kits for cars and trucks. As for the owners Hani Alwahban, Mustafa Alwahban and I our part in the company is doing all our construction, micromanaging our locations, training partners, hiring employees, getting the stores up and going, locating and purchasing our own real estate. We are known for stocking more inventory in DFW when it comes to tires, wheels and lift kits. What sets us apart from everyone else is our great warranty, dedicated staff and customer service. As co- owner I’m most proud of the brand name that my family and I built.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
For a business like ours it’s a great city to be in but there is a lot of competition in DFW. That being said, you have to come to the city with something that’s distinct and different from everybody else in this industry to be successful.
