Today we’d like to introduce you to Teleoso of Oso Artistry.
Teleoso, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a recording artist turned songwriter and although that’s an outlet for my emotions, I’m always racking my brain. I was looking for a hobby or some sort of outlet to relax and free my mind. I used to draw as a kid but had never painted. I decided to get some paint and canvases to see what I could come up with. The first art piece I painted, I posted on social media, and immediately someone wanted to buy it. I was like, “really”?! I sold my first piece for only $50, as I was just shocked anyone would even want it because I had no clue what I was even doing. After that I continued to paint, grow and learn new techniques due to trial and error. Almost every piece I posted, someone wanted to purchase. Eventually, it turned into a business, and here we are.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth sailing so far. I’m blessed. For some reason, people seem to take to the things I do and the art I put out into the universe, whether it be music or visual art. I’m so grateful that others can resonate with my art and honored that they have a piece of me hanging in their homes, studios, offices and any other space they choose to use my work as decor.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in Abstract Art, Negative Space, and Pop Art. My Negative Space paintings seem to be my best seller. I’m my worst critic, so I’m really hard on myself. Leonardo da Vinci once said, “Art is never finished, only abandoned”. I think every creative can agree with that. I could work on a painting forever if I allowed myself to because it almost never feels finished. There is always more that could be done to improve it, to build upon it, or to expand beyond the original intention. At some point, you just have to be like, “this is it”!!! I’m most proud when I’m able to capture the vision of one of my clients and seeing the happiness it brings them.
What’s next?
I plan to eventually collab with other brands, clothing lines, and other merch. Growth is always the goal so the sky is the limit when it comes to collaborating with other creatives.
