Meet Pam Blonde of Bloodlight and Bambi Vintage in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pam Blonde.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
“American dreams came true somehow, I’d swear I chase them until I was dead.” I opened my shop as a promise to myself, that no matter what life throws at you, you must stay true to your passion and creativity. I began my venture into the vintage world in 2016 as I became fascinated by the craftsmanship and tailoring vintage pieces possess. I quickly fell in love with the nostalgia of the fashions of the circa 1920s-1990s. I specialize in bringing buyers the most exquisite fabrics such as silks, velvets, chiffons, and beaded designer pieces. Vintage fashion is an art form that is appreciated by those who admire the labor and love of tailored clothing. In this fast, mass consumption society we live in, clothing is manufactured with low-quality fabrics and disposable fashions. Owning a vintage piece is truly a statement. A statement of style, elegance, boldness, and rebellion.

A little bit about myself, I grew up in Mexico and settled in the USA about 15 years ago. I studied fashion design in Dallas, at El Centro College. I worked for a couple of years as an intern for a production company specializing in couture and Avant-garde fashion shows. I then started a small handmade shop called “Vox Populi Jewelry” from 2014-2016 where I specialized in headpieces and jewelry. I now currently live between LA, Dallas, and NY, traveling often to search for inspiration, ideas, and wisdom from the universe. I’m a Dreamer living out her most precious desires of one day being able to work 100% online selling vintage and creating custom pieces.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As a creative, and life in general, it’s never a smooth road, you encounter obstacles that are meant to test how much you really want this. The universe is going to bombard you with challenges that will help you perfect your craft, your character, and most importantly help build trust in yourself. Every challenge I’ve encountered has taught me a lesson, to NEVER give up, keep thriving even if the odds are against you. The biggest struggle for me has been to trust myself as a creative, to allow myself to believe in my ideas and creativity, and not the approval of others.

Please tell us about Bloodlight and Bambi Vintage.
I own an online vintage shop specializing in unique pieces from the 1920’s-90s, and I’m also a stylist and designer in the Dallas area. My proudest moment so far in my company has been to ship vintage pieces internationally to Japan, France, Spain, Egypt, etc. Knowing that my vintage shop has reached international customers means a lot to me. I’m also proud that I’ve collaborated with models and stylist in New York and Los Angles. My favorite shoot was at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan, where I met up with creatives that I had never met in life except through Instagram, we sneaked into the MET with a full gown designer dress and the rest of my wardrobe in my bag. It was thrilling!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I could start over, I would have more faith in myself. I would definitely also ask more questions, find a mentor, ask for constructive criticism, network in social events, and find a strong community of creatives to discuss day to day struggles we have as designers, photographers, models, stylist, etc.
