Today we’d like to introduce you to Pam and William Campbell.
After working in Dallas in the advertising business for a short time, they acquired an existing gallery in Fort Worth, changing it considerably and bringing in all new artists. Over time, their roster of artists evolved to concentrate on mid-career and emerging artists from Texas and across the United States, including artists from Germany and Canada, and original prints by contemporary American artists. Pam & Bill began the Gallery Night events held in the spring and fall annually and helped found the Fort Worth Art Dealers Association. They also began offering art appraisals in 1990, with Pam, being accredited by the American Society of Appraisers and certified by the International Society of Appraisers.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most businesses, there have been ups and downs, but always exciting. The art business is unpredictable. In this area, it is not particularly seasonal or driven by a tourist industry. It is driven by collectors who have an enthusiasm for art.
William Campbell Contemporary Art – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We represent both mid-career and emerging artists, including regional artists, as well as artists from across the United States and some European. Media includes painting, works on paper, photography and sculpture.
We are proud of the artists with whom we’ve had the pleasure of working over the many years of our business, watching their careers grow and growing with them. A select group of artists and the highest level of client service sets William Campbell Contemporary Art apart from others.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
There have been many moments throughout the years! We are proud to have been able to share a venue within which our artists have been able to succeed. We also have enjoyed being successful in the community in which we live and, hopefully, gained the respect of our peers in the business we love.
