Patricia, thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
Greetings VoyageDallas Community,
As a young girl, I felt unwanted, unloved and misunderstood. I felt alone and confused, as I pondered the question: Why am I here on earth? I was molested as a young girl. As a teenager and young woman, I was a victim of rape. I experienced verbal, emotional, and physical abuse. Poverty, degradation, chaos and repeated traumatic events were my constant companions. They plagued my environment like a series of Tsunami. The loss of my significant elders in short succession sent me into a whirlwind of fear and anxiety. All of these events had taken place before the age of twenty-four. I began indulging in substance abuse and self- destructive behaviors. I experienced the lack of self – control, self -worth, mental breakdowns, people pleasing behaviors, suicidal and homicidal thoughts crept in my mind on many occasions. The murder of my eldest son took me to places mentally that I could not have ever imagined. I literally shut completely down. Anger, sadness and depression took control of my life for several years.
Oh, but for the grace of GOD!!! HIS blessings and mercy, all the people and resources HE placed in my life to fuel my spirit, has been the greatest gifts bestowed upon me.
With a renewed sense of spirit, I slowly began the healing process. I learned how to hold myself accountable for my own actions, to forgive myself first and then others. My foundation as a woman needed to be rebuilt.
No more secrets! I have learned that secrets kept me sick and made me sicker. It was time to release, reveal and repair. This new foundation allowed me to put into practice the hard work that was required in order to move forward and navigate life in a positive manner. I began to take notice of who I am and what I wanted to become. I have learned how to practice acceptance of my realities and be okay with dealing with life head on. I understand that I am in control of nothing and no one other than myself; and that not being in control of situations is more times than not a blessing. My joy comes from helping others with similar experiences to find their way from the madness.
I am a Navy Veteran, a mother of three, a grandmother of six, the author of the book titled, Memoirs That Made Me “A Journey Towards Healing.” My book is sold on Amazon. I am also a Speaker, Educator, Advocate against Domestic Violence, abuse and trauma. I am a woman with purpose.

As you know, we’re big fans of Phyllis Jenkins and the Powerful Journey Organization and we know you’ve worked with them quite a bit as well. We’d love to hear about your experience working with Powerful Journey Organization
Child, Let Me Tell You!
Phyllis Jenkins is a powerful woman of God and such a sweetheart. The Powerful Journey Organization is an absolute dynamic organization that pours everything they have into helping you to become your best and to shine beyond measure.
I met Phyllis through a friend of mine. I told my friend that I wanted to become a speaker and perhaps write a book. My friend said, “I know a lady you should meet, her name is Phyllis Jenkins.” She informed me that she had just attended one of the Powerful Journey Women Conferences, and had nothing but great things to say the about Powerful Journey. She gave me Phyllis’ contact information. I called and was impressed with what I heard and quickly enrolled in the Speakers Academy. From the first meeting, I could tell that I was in the right place. Phyllis’ warm demeanor and the professionalism of her assistant, Lori Vallot-Baskin left me wanting to return. I successfully completed the Powerful Journey Speakers Academy, The Authors Academy and currently participating in the Water-Walking Masterclass.
I would most definitely recommend the Powerful Journey Organization to anyone who has a desire for assistance with making their dream of becoming a speaker or author a reality, to contact Phyllis Jenkins with the Powerful Journey Organization. I am truly grateful for the help I received. The tools and resources provided, the various styles of storytelling, presentations, branding, the sessions were orderly, informative and conducted with love. Most of all, I have become much more confident about presenting to an audience. I feel that I am well prepared. I have met a wonderful group of women who have now become sisters in love.
From beginning to end, the Powerful Journey nurtured, educated, uplifted and encouraged greatness; from the speakers and authors to everyone else involved with the conferences.
