

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Donlin.
Patrick, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
At the end of 2009 I was fired from my previous job in Tampa Florida and moved to Dallas Texas early 2010. After interviewing for a new position and coming up empty handed, I started Heartland IT Consulting. At that time, it was only a phone and started to prospect for customers.
In the next 7 years, we continued to grow and fulfilled a need in the marketplace providing specialized talent on an a la carte basis. We built the organization through culture, team work, and a desire to learn from each action and improve every day.
This is evident as many of our team developed via our HIPster program that we hire college students to enter our internship program. This way we built our team for the long term with the best talent in the market and have had up to 24 people in the company at one time.
Today, we have two offices located in Dallas Texas and Denver Colorado and have continued to successfully work as a team. Our personality and reputation in the marketplace fuels our ability to deliver results continuously and look forward to continuous opportunity and growth.
Has it been a smooth road?
We had challenges retaining talent and shaping our culture. We overcame this developing our internship program that helped us select better talent that stayed with us longer term.
The market has changed and we have had to adapt how we communicate and our solution offering to the marketplace.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Heartland IT Consulting story. Tell us more about the business.
Heartland IT Consulting started from humble beginnings. In 2010 the company was founded in an apartment, cold calling companies to offer consulting services, with a phone and computer as the only amenities to support the process, both on loan.
Through hard work and dedication, the company grew and we were able to get out of the apartment, hire employees and continue to build our reputation one placement at a time. The growth has continued every year since inception.
Our model has evolved, utilizing the basic concepts of listening and interpreting situations in a simple way. Our company develops partnerships that are designed for long term commitments from our clients, consultants and employees in a part of the marketplace that doesn’t generally support that model.
Whether you learn about Heartland IT Consulting for the first time or talk with our people continuing to build an already established partnership, we hope that you find our rallying cry refreshing. Our modern interpretation of resource delivery is designed to build consistent partnerships and provide a solution to the marketplace that is unmatched in quality, service, and value.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
There is a transformational shift to heavier utilization of independent consultants and fits into our core concept as a business. This trend is apparent in a few ways.
