Today we’d like to introduce you to Peggy Davis.
Peggy, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I worked for the original owners, the Patrick’s family, several years back. I immediately fell in love with the family and the history the shop provided the community. As word of mouth traveled of John Patrick’s retirement, I hated the thought of 100+ years just closing its doors. I wanted to continue and build on the legacy they created.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Gosh! No transition is ever completely smooth! As we are still in the process of changes in fusing what was once Patrick’s Cleburne Floral and what is now my own Cleburne Floral. We are definitely finding our own niche in the community.
Please tell us about the business.
Our goal as a local florist is to provide a personal reflection of each individual in both ordering and receiving flowers. Not all arrangements are the same, that’s what is difficult about placing each one on the website. We create a custom order for one individual and the next the customer doesn’t always know we can create that in another color or style. The options are limitless and there is no way to capture them all. We want to take the time to create something special for the appropriate occasion.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
So far I have been incredibly blessed! I purchased a company with amazingly loyal customers.. With Cleburne continuing to grow, there are many potential customers with which we can create new relationships. Maybe I could have made more of an “entrance” instead of a simple transition. With that said, we are happy to grow in and with the Cleburne community.
