Meet D.Phaze

Today we’d like to introduce you to D.Phaze.

D.Phaze, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I come from a music family. My father and uncles are the legendary Verbal Seed, so Hip-Hop/music was always a given to me. Throughout the years, I strayed away from my “musical pursuit,” but I always found myself writing lyrics about life as I lived. Experiences, trials and tribulations are the make-up to my music and having a solid foundation kept me in tune with expressing myself throughout my music. It was only right to go by the alias D.Phaze. Every since 2012, I’ve started actually pursuing my career in music, dropping the first volume of my “In Between Time” mixtape series. Then in 2013, I went under the family Indie label Black Son Media Group, dropping more mixtapes and albums all the way to the current date. I eventually evolved into a producer pHaze Beatz , producing my first project in early of 2020 titled “Fuel City” with The Hamptonz, a group that I’m in with my brothers Dq Hampton and Trey Galactica.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s never a smooth road, but having a for a sure vision of your plan helps you to navigate through it all. The struggle is more so fighting yourself to keep it going and remain positive and on your square when it seems it can all be against you. But when you have family around you, those you can trust, then anything is possible to reach because it takes a team, and in a team everyone plays their part.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I started out as an emcee/rapper (D.Phaze) and evolved into a producer (pHaze Beatz). Black Son Media Group is the label I’m signed to, CEO (Oneself Salaam) and President (King Tree). I have between 6-7 music videos, you can find on Youtube. I have 5 solo projects and 3 joint projects. My solos are my “In Between Time” Volumes 1-4 mixtapes and my solo album “Napoleon Trill” . As of today, I have a couple beat tapes in the making on the way and as well as a couple more joint projects where I’m strictly producing every song.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Throughout my life, I more so looked at luck like karma, you know, you get what you deserve. When you’re prepared for the opportunity, then success is inevitable, if you’re not prepared, then you’re bound to meet failure. I look at luck as just that. Position yourself for the cause.
