Meet Pierre Andrews

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pierre Andrews.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I am a mixing engineer, producer, and musician with over 17 years of experience. Some of the artists I’ve worked with include Akon, Slim Thug, Talib Kweli, and Grammy-winning producers Play N Skillz. I’ve also produced, mixed, and engineered for local Dallas artists including Jay Fresh, The Unlikely Candidates, Alsace Carcione, The Delta Maze, Chad Goodson, Larry g(EE), and more.

Also, I worked on national brand campaigns for Mizuno Shoes, Exxon Mobil, Slim Fast, and more. My music was featured in documentary films including Morgan Spurlock’s “One Direction: This Is Us”, NBC’s The Voice, and Discovery Channel’s “Curiosity”. I recently released my own produced EP called “All or Nothing” which you can check out here: smarturl.it/aw0u7z

Please tell us about your art.
I mainly produce music for commercials and television using Logic Pro X. I’m comfortable working with all genres of music, but recently I’ve really been into Motown, Funk and Indie Rock. There’s something special about how those recordings were captured in the late 60’s and early 70’s.

I’m always trying to sonically recreate tones from records that inspire me, like the bass line tone on the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back”, or Dan Auerbach’s vocal and guitar tone on the Black Keys’ album “Brothers”. I love the challenge of using new technology and plugins to create tones that were originally recorded on vintage gear; plus, if I did try to buy all that vintage gear, I’d be broke.

A wanted to push myself creatively, so last year, I released my EP All or Nothing. One track in particular called “I See You” means a lot to me… I wrote it for my 1-year old daughter (who was a newborn at the time). I crazy how easily and quickly I wrote that song; I guess the more inspired I am, the more natural and quickly the creative process flows. The hard part is trying to constantly inspire myself, so I can create the best work I can.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
Standing out and being heard has to be the biggest challenge facing artists today. Nowadays, there is so much content and music out there; someone with talent can record an amazing song from his/her home studio and get it on Spotify for the world to hear. Thanks to technology, we’re more connected today than we have ever been, but now the hard part is finding a way to resonate with your audience so you can stand out in a sea of artists.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
