Meet June Parker of Pipe and Palette Home Outfitters and Mixed Media Art Classes in Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to June Parker.

June, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
This adventure of Pipe and Palette originally started when I was 6. The idea of having a retail store and creative studio all in one. I wanted a place that was inspiring and educational to the public. Of course, over the years, the idea changed and grew into what it is today.

The process of actually getting the brick and mortar location open took about 3 years. This involved lots of educational classes, research, and business planning. There were lots of negative people along my journey. Many “NO’s” and struggles I had to overcome. The hardest part was to stay positive and keep the end goal of my vision alive.

Finally, the day I had been waiting for was there. And it was go time. All my hard work and planning had paid off. Because the day I found the perfect location in Downtown Plano my life has never slowed down. I signed for the building on August 20, 2015, and my grand opening was on September 25, 2015.

Today, it is everything I had envisioned and so much more. In the front of the store is the retail side. It consists of American and local artisan handmade goods. In the back of the store is the studio side. The classes are for all kinds of studio art. This can be for kids and adults. It ranges from drawing, watercolor, painting and sculpture. We also have a party side, this is where kids and adults can schedule private events with us. That can range from kid’s birthdays, ladies night out, team bonding events and paint & sips.

The brick and mortar location is always growing and expanding. At the end of each month we host an Artisan Night. This is where you can find a free glass of wine, music and enjoy great art! Be sure to join us and support local!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course! When I first got started I think the hardest part is not having any previous business history. No landlord would even call me back. Finding a location was by far the hardest obstacle I had to overcome. I had over 20 men laugh in my face and say, no one will ever sign a lease to a 24-year-old girl with a lofty business idea that has no business history or prior locations to support it.

Our doors have been open for 2 years come September. I think the hardest part is just getting our name out there. I have kept things small and focused on great customer service. I did not spend 1 penny on advertising and had an exceptional first year of business. I had to be sure the idea was solid, and that we were unique experience unlike anything else. Now, I am ready to start advertising and filling up our calendar with outstanding events.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Pipe and Palette Home Outfitters and Mixed Media Art Classes – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We host high end makers and artisans. We also teach beginning art to amazing individuals who crave to create. Our goal here is to teach art and sell art we find not only amazing but useful.

Each maker and artisan we host has a story. They have a journey that lead them to us and from us they will continue to grow. We want not only our makers and artisans to feel at home but also our shoppers. Stop by anytime just to enjoy our vibe and be inspired.

We have many talented art instructors here. They range from teaching age 5 to adults. We meet you where you are, not the other way around. Come with no experience or be talented yourself. You will not be overwhelmed. You will leave with more talent and joy to keep on creating.
