Pooney, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As a child, my mom did hair in our apartment she use to have so many people and needed assistance. It was four of us, and we all had to help some kind of way. I took everything she showed us and some; by the time I was 13 she was so busy and needed more than assistance, so I started doing her clientele with her while building my own.
This success I’m having didn’t just start overnight. It’s been up and downs from not making smart decisions, but I’m so thankful for it all because it made me become who I am today.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road was never smooth. I can tell you that my downfall was not understanding the importance of saving, the importance of professionalism, the importance of a positive atmosphere, the importance of being on time, the importance of knowing that every day is a grind, so you have to go hustle like it’s your first day at the job.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Salon Forty-Three Twelve – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business name comes from those small, troubled apartments I reside with my mom and sisters for fifteen years. The place I started doing hair at, Salon Forty-Three Twelve (4312) that was the address. I can do pretty much any hairstyle besides braids.
I’m known for those bomb bobs. I’m proud to say We have been open two years and progression has never stopped. Professionalism, peaceful atmosphere, time efficiency, and pure greatness is what set us apart from others.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Well, we plan on having more events for our community and to link up with surrounding salons or barbershops to collaborate good stuff.
