Today we’d like to introduce you to Priscilla Sepulveda.
Priscilla, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My massage journey started a decade ago. After having gone through some major life changes, I decided I wanted something different for myself. I remember my first massage not being a pleasant experience. I had the expectation that because this was for me, to restore some wellness and relaxation, that massage would bring that to me. That was not the case. I was left feeling uncomfortable and insecure from the interaction. That is when I realized that my purpose was to serve others and provided a better experience than the one I had received. I believe in the power of touch and how much it allows me to help others. Massage has allowed me to do that in a way I could never have imagined. I quickly grew to understand that massage was not just another career. It was my gift from God, and He was entrusting me with it to bring healing to everyone else. My calling has been reaffirmed to me time and time again through the progress in my repeat clients.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth. I started a massage business with zero clientele and knowing nothing about running a business. There have been days where I won’t see a single client, and it’s a scary thing as a first time business owner. There have been days where I’ve wanted to quit, but I refuse to give up. My business is slowly growing, and I’m constantly getting connected with the right people who have helped me on this journey.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Massage by Priscilla – what should we know?
I offer everything from the traditional swedish or deep tissue massage modalities to more specialized styles, including trigger point and therapeutic massage. Having spent years in the dental field, I have combined my unique set of skills and knowledge to also offer TMJ (temporomandibular joint) massage for those suffering from jaw pain.
No matter the style, I carefully tailor the massage to each person’s individual needs in a safe and professional environment.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My friend and business owner Rachel Truitt with Yoga Chikitsa has been my number one supporter. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without her help and encouragement. Tom and Katie Hough with Richardson Fit Body Bootcamp have cheered me on with my fitness and business goals. The girls from my church connect group Shoreline City have surrounded me with encouragement and covered me in prayers, and my mom and dad have continually offered support and encouragement. I have the absolute best clients who continue to support my small business and refer their family and friends to me.
