Meet Anthony Broussard of Pure Swing Golf in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Broussard.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Anthony. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in southeast Texas in a small town called Silsbee. I was introduced to the game of golf at a little nine-hole course called Silsbee Country Club at the age of three. My dad liked to play so he would take me to the course with some cut down clubs and I would wack away at a few. I began to ask my parents to take me out to the golf course and drop me off around the age of ten. I remember playing with a few of my buddies and competing for score with them. My dad entered me into a small junior tournament called the YMBL at Beaumont Country Club, a few kids beat me which fueled me to want to improve. At age 11, I vividly remember telling my dad that I didn’t want to play baseball anymore because I wanted to focus on golf. My goal was to one day play on the PGA Tour and my mom always told me that I could serve the Lord through the game of golf by being a good example for others. My destiny was clear at the age of 12.

After that, I began to play in as many junior tournaments as possible. I had a lot of success early winning lots of tournaments and I believe the early success made me love the game even more. In high school, I continued to have success winning the TAAPS High School 5A state championship as well as 16 other high school tournaments. After high school, I was good enough to get a scholarship at the University of North Texas to play golf and this is where I honed my skills enough to give professional golf a shot. I played professionally full time for eight years. I won four times including the 2014 Texas State Open, qualified for the US Open in 2014 and in 2016, I got full status to play on the web.com tour. I lost my card in 2016 on the web.com tour and around that same time found out that my wife was pregnant with my now 18-month-old son, Luke. When I heard the news of my wife being pregnant along with not playing as well as I would have liked, I started thinking about how I could stay at home and provide for my family while at the same time staying in the game of golf. How could I still fulfill my dream of serving the Lord through the game of golf? That is when I decided to start teaching. My wife and I with the help of many other people came up with our business Pure Swing Golf.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The business model started as something slightly different. At first, we were going to do entertainment as well as golf instruction, but after two failed leases and a long search for the right property we decided to scale down the business model and landed with what we are doing now. We got a great location and are excited to be doing so well in our first year of business.

Pure Swing Golf – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Pure Swing Golf is a state of the art indoor training facility in Dallas, Texas providing players golf lessons from experienced professional golfers using the latest technology. PSG also provides golf club fittings and golf equipment from the top brands in the game like Ping and Titleist. At PSG, players will gain knowledge and confidence in their game, get help with their physical technique, course management, and mindset. Pure Swing Golf offers a variety of services to players including golf lessons for players of all backgrounds and skill levels, assistance to juniors wanting to make the high school team or play at the collegiate level, recruiting and tournament scheduling advice for junior golfers, help to collegiate golfers aiming to play professionally, course management help – how to properly navigate around the course based on your strengths , developing a mental regimen that works during preparation, practice, and tournament play, and golf club fitting using the most accurate launch monitor in the game, the GC Quad, to ensure that your golf equipment is right for you.

The two things that set us apart from others in this business is our technology and our coaches. Unlike traditional outdoor instruction, the state of the art technology at PSG allows our coaches to measure and evaluate each area of your swing all at once to provide the most efficient golf instruction on the market. Being indoors helps the coach and student be more efficient in a golf lesson because all the technology can be used simultaneously within a small area so that students can practice like professional tour players. In baseball, football, and basketball, the best coaches are the ones who have played the game professionally. We believe integrating this approach to the game of golf will be most helpful for our students. Our coaches have experience playing at the highest levels including competing in major championships. Not only can our coaches teach the most efficient techniques in all areas of the game, but they can also help you strategize and game plan your way around the golf course.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am proud to have the doors finally opened and be in business. I am proud that I am able to help people enjoy the game of golf more by improving their game. I am proud that I am able to do something close to home right now while my son is young, so I can play a big part in his day to day life.
