Today we’d like to introduce you to Quan Gotti.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Quan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I got into producing when I was 18 because I knew I couldn’t rap so I turn my talent over to making beats and I plan to take over the industry with my unique melodies and hard-hitting 808’s and also by giving all artist a chance and help them develop as artists. I hope my story can inspire another young kid in the projects with big dreams.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some struggles I faced while being in the industry was not getting proper placements inside the city because artist feels like that shouldn’t have to pay because we all come from the city, then the next would be getting placements from labels and major artist because it’s hard coming up when you are only known in your local city, then there are times when the music starts too change so you have to adjust to new styles but also keep original to fit your sound along with finding the right artist for your beats. I have managed to find my wave in the industry and ride it the struggles that I have faced in the early stages of my career have only been stepping stones to a higher level of elevation in the game which has led me to work with some very well known underground artists.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Mafia Nation is an independent label that I founded when I was signed under a major label. I have always had the vision to wanna produce and develop upcoming artists. That is what the Mafia Nation is all about. Our motto is “Bullying our way into the industry,” which means we’re going to make you take notice of the artists that we have lined up on the roster and change the game. I am known for producing and writing for artists such as Molly Brazy, Rocky Badd, Karina J, Bangg 3, Queen key, Smash Bruvas, Summerella, Cuban Doll and much more. What sets my label apart from other labels is the fact that my team is very diverse and they are very innovative thinkers with new ideas.
What I am most proud of about my business is just the fact that I have built up a buzz for myself to the point that I can step out and be the CEO of my own label and the fact that I can bring in people that I now possess a great knowledge base to give them a chance to show what they can bring to the label. Also, the fact that I have been blessed to be able to share my story, I can’t do anything without thanking God.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel that the characteristic important to my success is the fact that I had to be consistent and hungry. I had to stay on myself, especially those long nights that I was tired from making beats all night and writing but I knew that it would pay off. Also, me being hungry to wanna make it out of the bad situation that I was in. That’s the key to my success.
