Today we’d like to introduce you to Quay Childress.
Hi Quay, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
7-Year-old me: “Mom, do you like my business cards?!”
Even as a young child, I have had a passion for marketing and branding. I remember wanting to be a dentist, so I created my very own business cards, flyers, wrote out a list on where I could “drop off” my flyers. Little did I know, I was conducting market research, narrowing down my target market, developing my marketing strategy/campaign, and learning the basics of graphic design.
In 2015, I was a part of a team where we developed campaigns for both Facebook and the U.S. Department of State. My team was then personally recognized by the Governor of Arkansas (my home state) and even former president, Barack Obama at the White House.
It was after that experience and a very successful campaign that I knew I was exactly where I needed to be.
I started by designing business cards for small business owners, to now managing a client list of over 30 different businesses/companies.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Every single thing that I have done has been a learning experience for me. From each meeting, campaign and year, there are nuggets you can keep and nuggets you can tweak for the next time.
My biggest obstacle has been trying to decide between “staying up late and getting it done”, and “resting to finishing it up tomorrow”. Everyone is going to have those late nights. It’s when you have a large unbalance in your work-life that it becomes an issue.
The level of stress for me became almost overwhelming in 2020. I was in Graduate school, my business was growing exponentially, and I was still maintaining a corporate career. At the end of the year, I decided that I was going to make my overall wellness a priority. One thing that helped me to return to my proper balance, was working smarter. I implemented several processes to streamline my work. I truly just had to sit down and assess what was not working efficiently and fix it.
I saw this quote on LinkedIn and it stuck with me. “There is no reward for the most overworked person in the world”.
Life still needs to be lived, and I stopped living life for a while. No more.
As you know, we’re big fans of SOCL LUXE Marketing, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Throughout the years, SOCL LUXE has had the privilege to help small businesses all over the national, fortune 500 companies, and non-profits!
As the founder and owner, I take pride in every business that is touched by us. What truly makes SOCL LUXE different is that our work is so personal. It’s personal to me because it’s personal to my business owners.
The world of marketing is always changing! Pivoting, staying in the loop, and even going back to school (currently attending LSU Shreveport, enrolled in the MBA program) have all helped me to provide the best service for my business owners and public figures. So much so that I was recently named 32 under 32 in advertising & marketing.
Working for some of the largest profit and non-profit organizations in the world has also provided me with an extensive background that I am extremely proud of. SOCL LUXE is constantly learning, attending webinars, looking over reports, data, etc. Strategic marketing is genuinely an interest of mine. I have been able to turn my genuine passion into genuine results.
We are the real deal when it comes to small business growth and strategy! We specialize in social media management and digital marketing. We have seen amazing growth in helping out local restaurants during the pandemic, growing personal brands, and in our consulting packages.
Affordability is a huge part of our mission, especially when it comes to our small business owners. We implemented the “Small business Corner”, where we build websites, design business cards, create custom branding, and provide interest-free payment plans.
