Meet Queen Epps of Eppic Designs in Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Queen Epps.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always loved creating beautiful spaces for myself and for others. For as long as I can remember, I have found joy transforming spaces and turning a house into a haven. Though I was passionate about all things decor, I feared stepping out on faith and starting my business. I was consumed with fear because this was not the dream that I dreamt for myself as a child. I thought that being an interior stylist and designer was only supposed to be a hobby for me and that I needed to climb the corporate ladder in order to be accomplished.

This changed for me when a lady overheard a friend complimenting my decorating skills and she hired me on the spot… without a portfolio. She believed in me when I was too scared to believe in myself. Her belief in me gave me the confidence to believe in my ability to do this full time. I know with every fiber of my being that this was God nudging me to do what I was passionate about and Him guiding me away from what looked good on paper.

That was the start of Eppic Designs. I immediately enrolled in classes at Collin Community College and obtained my certification in Interior Design Concepts. I worked tirelessly to learn as much as I could so that I could enhance my gift with education. I have worked hard to give each and every client an EPPIC transformation!!!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has not been easy, but it has been so rewarding. I truly love that my interior design services can transform someone’s life by creating a beautiful, functional home that they enjoy coming home to.

The hardest part about this journey was not having mentors or “design friends”. It was so difficult to learn how to run the business side of design without guidance because school doesn’t teach you that. Despite this challenge, I kept going. I have been blessed to gain two amazing mentors recently. These ladies have poured into me a wealth of knowledge and given me so many gems that I have now incorporated into my business. I am also blessed to have a new design bestie, we support and root for each other’s success. Finding your village is paramount and I am so very grateful to social media for connecting us.

I spent so much time without mentors that I relied heavily on the support of my close circle. My amazing husband and beautiful daughter have been my number one supporters and loudest cheerleaders since the very beginning. Their love, unwavering support, and constant belief in me pushed me and reassured me when things were tough. My friends and family also pushed me when fear tried to set in. I’m so very grateful for my village.
