Hi Quinshada , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
During the pandemic, like many others, I faced the challenges of anxiety and depression after being laid off. Seeking ways to uplift my spirits, I discovered the incredible power of flowers as natural mood boosters. They have a fascinating ability to enhance our emotional and mental well-being.
Inspired by this discovery, I shared my findings with a friend, and together, we embarked on a journey into the world of floral design. We immersed ourselves in learning every aspect of the craft and soon built a successful pop-up shop and a thriving brick-and-mortar store.
Though I faced an unexpected turn in my previous career, I was determined that my next venture would be deeply rooted in community. Those who know me understand my unwavering dedication and tireless work ethic towards anything I am passionate about.
And then, in a moment of inspiration, STEMME FLORAL STUDIO was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a new business is an exhilarating adventure, filled with challenges that test your resolve and creativity. From securing funding in your first year to building a vibrant community on social media, the journey is as demanding as it is rewarding.
As a perfectionist, I’ve often grappled with the desire to make everything flawless before sharing it with the world. My biggest challenge has been overcoming the question, “Is this good enough?” and resisting the urge to endlessly refine.
However, I’ve learned that excessive perfectionism can rob us of the joy of the present moment and stifle our creativity—something we simply cannot afford in the world of floral design. Embracing imperfection opens the door to innovation and allows our unique artistry to shine through.

I am particularly proud to lead a business deeply rooted in community partnership. Stemme Floral Studio is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections and supporting initiatives that make a difference. One of our new initiatives, “Giving Men Their Flowers Now,” challenges the traditional narrative that men only receive flowers posthumously. Stemme is committed to changing this perception, celebrating men with the beauty and significance of flowers in their lifetime.
As a graduate of Tougaloo College (BA) and Jackson State University (MA), and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, community and service have been central to my journey.

Stemme Floral Studio would not be where it is today without my incredible husband, Chason Edmond! He has been my rock, drying my tears, motivating me, and giving me the tough love I needed during moments of self-doubt. His unwavering support has been crucial as I navigated the challenges and triumphs of building Stemme.
It’s often said that behind every great girl boss is her group chat cheering her on. I am fortunate to have the best group chat ever, spanning from Mississippi, Tennessee, Rhode Island, and TEXAS! These women are truly amazing, and I am blessed beyond measure to have them in my life.
Stemme Floral Studio owes so much to my dear friend, mentor, and advocate, Dennis McMurray. He helped me find and stay true to my purpose, guiding me to be intentional about my “why” with Stemme.
