Meet Rachel Dixon of Bossmaid Picklez & Rachel’s Fitness in Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Dixon.

Rachel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In life, we’re always faced with hurdles and the ups and downs of life. The best solution for those hurdles is perseverance and hard work. I got started on my journey about three years ago when I decided to change the woman who I was becoming into who I wanted to be. I had just graduated gained over seventy pounds throughout those four years and just wanted to get back to “Rachel”. So I started slowly decreasing my portions got the first thirty off alone within six months. From there I gradually went from 220 at my highest to 150 within a year and a half.

I was also very blessed during this time to work for two well known nutritional companies where I learned how to effectively lose weight. I loved the job but felt that I could do much better on my own as a coach. So I started “Rachel’s Fitness” which is where I coach clients on various nutritional meals. After my journey ended there I was ready to step into a career field much more rewarding so I started teaching Biology. I learned that the best way to engage students is to build relationships and keep candy or treats. I started making Koolaid Pickles which I made in college to help fundraise for Student Government. The Pickles were a hit with the kids and so in return, I started making new flavors for sale. And that’s how I got started with another love and hobby of mine now business “Bossmaid Picklez”.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This road has definitely been bumpy for both businesses. Some of the struggles I’ve faced along the way are loss of time, money, and guidance. Sometimes it’s hard to come up with that next business sale strategy independently or you worry if the customers will like it. Because of course you always want to make your customers happy. So I’d definitely stay encouraged and motivated to believe in yourself that it will work.
