Meet Rafael Badillo and Veronica Badillo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rafael Badillo and Veronica Badillo.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’ve only wanted to do one thing since I was kid, and that was to create. The only careers that interested me as a younger man were painter, hair stylist and musician and it took me till the age of 30 realize why. Photography became an interest around the same time I met my wife of 9 years, Veronica. At that time, I photographed everything except people and weddings were at the bottom of the list of things I was interested in. My wife uses to assist a wedding photographer back in the film days and she is the one who convinced me to try it. After shooting my first wedding I completely stopped photographing everything else because I fell in love with weddings and working with couples.

Please tell us about your art.
We are a husband and wife wedding photography team that lives in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas. Taking the stories of our couples and capturing a piece that is both creatively unique and timeless is always our main goal as artist. As a business making the photography part of our couples wedding planning as easy and simple as possible. Our images are created to capture the start of their lives together so that years from now they can look back and visually see and share those moments.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
This is a hard question to answer. I think it boils down to the type of artist you are. I feel the biggest challenge for artists today in this industry is how much we truly undervalue ourselves. It seems like some artist feel that because they don’t have as much experience as others they tend to underprice their work. This affects all other artist in the industry. It is easy to start out and think that you are not as good as “those guys” or think who would want to pay me for my images. But seriously, you are capturing a beautiful memory for a client in your own creative way regardless of the number of years you have been offering your services.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
