Today we’d like to introduce you to Randi Steinhart.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a former entertainment television producer turned live event producer. During my journey from one to the other, life happened!
In 2001, after my second son was born, it made sense for my family to quit the workforce. As the years went on, I was missing my creative outlet of producing. During the time, I was raising my three boys, I began to volunteer at their schools; heading up carnivals and galas as well as volunteering with some local Jewish organizations on committees for their fundraising events. Volunteering became my creative outlet. I met some amazing people during this time, including my mentor in the event industry. I believe volunteering within the community is the reason why social and non-profit clients began to contact me for their events.
In 2009, my marriage fell apart and I needed to figure out how I was going to support myself and my three boys. I went to a temp agency who placed me with a national non-profit in Development. I was hired to stay on and began planning their outreach events and their national conferences in Washington DC. This job forced me to believe in myself again and believe I would be OK after the divorce, it also gave me the courage to produce events full time.
I’ve been planning events full time since 2012. Some months are better than others financially, but with the love of my family and friends and the most amazing clients past and present, I truly believe I have the best job. My motto: Let’s Celebrate Together!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I decided to do an event producing full time, I found my biggest struggle was with learning to do the financials, balance sheets, and QuickBooks. Being a journalism major in college, I didn’t need to take any high-level math. Thank goodness, I have a great bookkeeper!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about RS Event Productions – what should we know?
RS Event Productions is a full-service event coordination firm specializing in event planning, design and event management for corporations, individuals and non-profit groups. I am most proud of aligning myself with the most amazing vendors that are the best in the business. I am a Certified Special Event Professional, CSEP, which is the highest certification in the event industry, and it definitely sets me apart from the other event planners in the metroplex.
