Today we’d like to introduce you to Randy Stroman.
Randy, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My wife and I started this business when we were still both working in corporate jobs. I made the decision to go full time into coaching and training in 2013 and Debbie joined my full time a year later. Our passion has always been to help people be equally successful at work and at home, that’s why we focus our coaching and training programs on the topics of leadership and relationships.
Our leadership programs help people maximize their results at work and our relationship coaching helps busy people enjoy success in their business and personal relationships. One of our great disappointments was watching a CEO build up their company, achieving tremendous success, only to experience a horrible home life, which ultimately robs their effectiveness at work. The two worlds go hand in hand.
Values are a concentration for our practice because no individual, or company, will ever rise above their values. What they value will determine their success or failure. Values will determine their ability to sustain success. Values determine corporate culture and culture eats strategy for lunch. You can have the greatest strategy available, but if your values are out of alignment with your strategy, then it is just a matter of time before your strategy fails. Our approach is unique but has proven highly effective at helping clients achieve harmony in all the areas of their life and business.
Has it been a smooth road?
Our biggest struggle has always been helping clients get out of their own way to achieve success. As the old saying goes, “If it isn’t working, then something has to change.” Many people are so averse to change that it prevents them from achieving their own goals. This is where a coach can help. They can help you see options you would not consider using the same level of thinking that created the problem. It isn’t that a coach is using higher thinking (although sometimes that may be true) because most business people are highly capable. It’s that a coach can ask all of the foolish questions that you were too afraid to ask. It really is a simple, but a profound step to work with a coach. As I tell clients, “You may be the most gifted surgeon in the world, but that doesn’t mean you should perform surgery on yourself”.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I think what makes us unique is that as husband and wife, we work effectively together. We are generally together 24/7, We do training together; we often do couples coaching together; we travel together; and yet we rarely ever have conflict. I think that is highly unusual for couples that work together, but we follow a simple set of principles that have allowed us to work together and still have a great marriage.
As previously stated, we offer coaching and training. While being both coach and train on a variety of business and life issues, Randy tends to focus on process improvement, strategy and values, while Debbie specializes in daily success habits and bringing clarity to dreams and goals.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The thing I like best about living in Dallas is when I have to travel. It’s location and available carriers make Dallas a great city for traveling out. On more than one occasion, I have taken the first flight out of Dallas in the morning, flown to Atlanta, had a meeting near the airport, and then flown to California for a late afternoon meeting. There are few cities where that would be possible, and none offer the nicer weather of the south. Dallas is also great when clients come to visit. There are so many great restaurants, hotels and attractions, plus that great Texas hospitality. Our clients love visiting us in Dallas. As for what we don’t like, it’s traffic, but that’s true for any great city. Greatness always attracts a crowd.
