Meet Raquel Jones of DFWiRadio.com in Grand Prairie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raquel Jones.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Raquel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
DFWiRadio.com was originated by my mother-in-law, Pearl Jones in 2010. She has a long history in radio the music business, working for music labels and locally at K104 and 97.9. In 2013, she passed the business to myself and my husband, Turhan Jones, and we are currently operating and expanding the company to higher levels.

The company is growing tremendously, and we have shows ranging from topics about love, health, sports, business, and more. We have a diverse clientele, whom we refer to and treat as family. We launched DFWiGospel.com in March of 2017, because of the high number of faith-based shows that we already had, we knew there was a demand. It is flourishing and thriving with new shows, gospel singers, and gospel celebrities.

We are expanding our company, with our Latino community, as we are starting DFWiLatino.com, for our shows in Spanish or in English. I was a Dallas Police Officer for 11 1/2 years before retiring due to difficulties with Lupus Nephritis Disease. I have dealt with Lupus for many years, and it is imperative that I share that life-changing part of my story, because it will bring awareness about this silent and potentially fatal disease.

Also, I wouldn’t be C.E.O of DFWiRadio/DFWiGospel/DFWiLatino, if Lupus wouldn’t have happened for me. After being on dialysis for a year and a half, my mother donated her kidney to me, and I am filled with gratitude for her and the Highest. I have an extreme appreciation for the breath of life, and I will use my gratitude for being blessed with DFWiRadio.com, DFWiGospel.com, and DFWiLatino.com, and more to elevate them to the greatest of heights.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When I look back at the time that we were passed the company and see where we are today, I wouldn’t say that it was a struggle, but that is because of my optimistic perception and happy attitude about life.

Whenever we took over the company, Internet Radio was in the earlier growth stages, here in Dallas, so people were still trying to become more acclimated to it.

Internet Radio still hasn’t reached its full potentials. I was also on dialysis at the time, and it was a grueling challenge for me to do many things at times. We didn’t make enough income from DFWiRadio.com at the time to cover the bills, but we knew that if we hung in there, and worked through the difficult times, that there would be golden rewards.

DFWiRadio provides a platform for those looking to host their own radio shows, advertise their art, promote their business, promotional interviews, podcasts, a place where new artists can have an opportunity for their music to be heard locally and globally. We travel, hosting and providing DJ and party services. We have an in-house studio, where commercials, music, poetry, books, and any other audio can be recorded, and professionally mixed, by General Manager, Turhan Jones.

We train students in using music programs, radio broadcasting, studio recording, and about the Broadcasting industry. We are known for our hospitality, and how we cater to the special needs of our clients, without charging them for every single thing. I am most proud of the longevity of our clients because it shows us that they’re not just satisfied, but they’re happy.

If our clients are happy, we are elated! What sets us apart from others is how our clients can come in, relax, and we take care of all of their needs. We care about how our clients feel. We have an experienced General Manager, Turhan Jones, who is gifted and knowledgeable in producing music, editing, writing commercials, music business, and much more.

We also have a team of people, who are willing to contribute in any way to ensure the success of DFWiRadio, DFWiGospel, and DFWiLatino. We are grateful for of the all affiliations with DFWiRadio. Last of all, we have the best prices, and we ensure that our customer are happy!

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a shy, happy child, I felt adventurous inside, and I knew that I had to overcome the state of being shy, to fulfill the need to express myself and reach higher potentials. I was active in all sports, gymnastics, acting, dance, ballet, tap, jazz, cheerleading, volleyball, flag-football, even tackle with my neighborhood peers, basketball, track, cross country, every single activity that I could fit in, I was in it.

Writing has always been my biggest passion, and it is what I enjoy doing most, besides Yoga. I always thought of myself as shy even though others didn’t think of me that way, they didn’t understand how much I pushed myself to conquer being shy to accomplish goals and dreams.

I felt kind, giving, and compassionate towards people, but when I discovered that not everyone was in the same heart as I am, I begin to learn to protect myself. I am still the same compassionate, kind, and giving spirit, I am just wiser about it. My interests were always in the soul of a person, the supernatural, the planets, stars, life in general, seeing the world, and wondering how I got to this world. Where did I come from?
