Rashad Thirlkill, a serial entrepreneur and owner of Thirlkill Marketing Agency, has reinvented his company from providing traditional marketing services to digital marketing. He boasts an extensive knowledge of marketing for success. As a bootstrapping expert, his recipes for success are promotion, production and publicity. He refers to it as the marketing mix. With more than 20 years in the marketing realm, his arsenal remains consistent with traditional and digital marketing strategies.
After a recent three-year stay in Jacksonville, Florida, away from his comfort zone, Ft Worth, Texas, he was forced to market his products and services online. “I took notice of the learning curve and realized that there are business people that have no clue of the digital world and could use someone like me to bridge the gap.” Therefore, Thirlkill Digital was born. Thirlkill built a team and began specializing in branding, ecommerce and also offering social media management, website design and development, mobile and proximity marketing. The marketing strategies are customized into packages to suit clients’ needs or they can be purchased a la carte. There was a void that needed to be filled in bridging the gap between the old way and the new. Thirlkill Digital has filled that void.
He has built Thirlkill Digital, solely from the knowledge gained from operating his own businesses. His hope is to share that knowledge. He has a training program titled ‘Thirlkill University,’ in which he teaches the fundamentals of digital marketing. Thirlkill offers a partnership program to anyone that would like to be a marketing consultant, as well. The ultimate goal is to provide jobs and sustainable business models. “Marketing is the glue that holds everything together. Without it, it’s nearly impossible for your company to compete, grow or profit.” states the CEO.
His agency currently creates and implements marketing strategies to assist a wide range of clients, from small mom and pop brick and mortar stores to established corporations, such as DirectTV, Vivint, Reliant Energy and National Life Group.
Thirlkill Digital is a results-driven digital marketing agency, designed to assist small and medium-sized businesses with their marketing duties. Established in 2018, the company initially offered traditional and digital marketing, but now focuses solely on digital marketing.
Thirlkill University provides courses dedicated to business owners, entrepreneurs, marketing consultants or anyone new to marketing. The courses are self-maintained and designed to teach people how to transition from traditional marketing to digital marketing. It also will open courses on a monthly basis that will assist our partners with accelerating at being successful at marketing consultants.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning my own business has not been a smooth road. There are always obstacles associated with being an entrepreneur. The main obstacle in forming a digital marketing agency would be the learning curve and the constant changes in the industry. For instance, a few years ago, a person needed some type of skills or network to build a website, now you can just buy a template already done for you and pour money into ads.
Please tell us about Thirlkill MArketing Agency.
My company is awesome because it is truly results-based. I have implemented a system that will drive sales to any type of company, may it be restaurants, real estate, car dealerships or for insurance agents. I took the concept of traditional marketing and designed a marketing system based on “the marketing mix”; it is used to generate leads, build a following and promote products and services. We have recently released a format strictly built to make influencers out of business owners and entrepreneurs.
What I am most proud of is the systems that we are building, its plug and play. Secondly, I am proud that I can hire expiring marketers and marketing consultants that larger firms refuse to give a chance. Also, the fact that there are a limited number of African Americans in the digital field remains to be a driving force, something I am proud of, as well.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood was with my father at the quarter horse races on Saturday mornings, watching and helping him prepare to race his horses. I didn’t do much but maybe fetch a rope or bucket, but I watched everything from the prep routine through to the race and then taking a picture in the winner’s circle. It’s like the perfect illustration of life. My father was the first entrepreneur I knew of and a lot of life lessons were taught on those Saturday mornings.
