Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Roberts.
Hi Raven, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my career Styling when a friend of a friend asked me to style her web series. Fast forward about eight months later I got laid off from my job and got asked to style my first short film and the reboot of the web series. I decided then to put all of my efforts into styling and my career took off from there. In 2014 I decided to move to New York City to continue my career where I worked with celebrities including Naturi Naughton, Robin Thicke, Marcus Scribner, and Ryan Leslie, to name a few. While in New York I had the chance to be into international commercials and have my work featured on numerous magazine covers, red carpets, and short and feature films.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a totally smooth road. As many other entrepreneurs, I’ve had my ups and downs, twist and turns, highs and lows. So, one of my first struggles came with my first year of styling I was full-time freelance and was not making much money at all and had to give my career to God and once I did, I started to work more frequently and was able to sustain my life. The same struggles came when I moved to New York as being a freelancer there are no bulletins or announcements that I can make that I am in this new city. I had to take a step back and get a part-time job, start assisting, and eventually, I became full-time freelance again in 2018.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Content Creator and Celebrity Stylist. With content creation, I specialize in fashion, press on nails, travel, and beauty. As a celebrity Fashion Stylist, I do not focus on one main area I have worked with celebrities for a carpet, Campaigns, pilots, TV appearances, e-commerce, editorial, and so much more. I am most proud of making women in men feel seen through their fashion and becoming their best selves. What sets me apart from others is that I am well-versed in different body types, Heights, and stages of life.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
My industry as a Celebrity Fashion Stylist I don’t see any big shifts coming, I do see more people understanding the need for a Fashion Stylist. As far as content creation the industry is still fairly new and I just see it continuing to get bigger and bigger.
