Today we’d like to introduce you to Ravion Cyrus.
Ravion, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My fashion career started when I was 15 years old. A guest speaker from my home economics class hired me as her personal assistant. Working under her I was introduced to many opportunities within fashion, hair, and production. Some of our clients included Russell Westbrook and models from America’s Next Top Model. At 19, I opened my first business, “Le Canari Noir”, meaning “The Black Canary”. I catered vintage clothing and accessories via commerce and pop up shops. I moved to Dallas, from Oklahoma, in 2015 to finish my design degree. After finding out, I would owe $75,000 to complete my studies I decided to leave school and pursue my career as a model.
I closed my store and built a portfolio. When I first started modeling it was your stereotypical hosting or club gig, but it paid well. From 2015 until late 2016 I worked as a full-time model but in February of 2017, I was diagnosed with H Pylori bacterial infection. I lost so much weight and has a lot of downtime due to sickness. I could no longer model full-time and became a crisis pregnancy contact counselor. I have guided over 550 families to choose life for their babies by providing them resources and support. Such an amazing and humbling experience. October 29, 2018, is the day I could no longer stray away from my dreams, however. I quit my job that I loved to enter back into the industry. That is where I am now. I opened my women’s brand Naked Muse in 2019. I currently offer lingerie and photography services but am currently working on a full women’s line. I spend my time producing fashion shows and enjoying the different avenues I encounter as an art-repreneur. I have a lot of exciting things coming for Naked Muse and I feel blessed to be where I am now. Definitely stay tuned!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is never smooth. That is the road I prefer though. As mentioned, my battle with H Pylori changed a lot for me. I was down and missed a lot of opportunities. My health bills piled up beyond belief and I went from 140 pounds to 100 pounds flat. It was an awful, yet, necessary experience. Aside from health, I made unhealthy decisions with friends and relationships along the way but that has all built me and there are no burned bridges.
Please tell us about Naked Muse.
I am an art-repreneur all around. My lingerie can be found at thenakedmuse.com. I cater lingerie to some sizes S-3x and sometimes 5x, respectively. My clients generally include models, adult film stars and photographers. I am also a beginning photographer. I have shot weddings, models, and products. When I am not shooting, I am behind the camera. I focus on fitness and print modeling but I also work as a brand ambassador for a major wholesaler based in Los Angeles. I believe I am different because I am not about clout or what I can benefit from this industry. I started drawing fashion sketches at three years old. This is in me! I am also not a one trick pony and can provide all-around services.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
To be honest, taking naps – LOL! I just miss the overall innocence and peace of being a child. Going to school for half a day and playing outside. Any memory involving that level of peace.
