Today we’d like to introduce you to Raychelle Hale.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Coming to Texas from California, my mom, my sister, and brother & I were on our way riding the greyhound, escaping the abusive relationship. We left everything and had to start fresh only having two outfits apiece. I can remember staying with family members. That not working out because of too many chefs will not work in a kitchen. We went to a shelter were we stayed to pass us over until my mom found an apartment in the low-income area, to get us started again, growing up I heard gunshots, seen drive-bys slept some nights in the dark I can remember my mom telling us to make sure we eat at school because she had to see if we were having dinner that night, but that wouldn’t stop me ! At 13 I started doing hair, braiding my own hair, at 15 I started living a fast kind of life I started getting into trouble hanging with people that weren’t so good for me at the time I started doing friends hair charging maybe $10 to $15 a head. That was money to me at that time lol, I was very selfish not knowing what it took to be a single parent, at 17 I got pregnant with my baby girl and her dad got sentenced to 10 years in prison so I had to pause it all and rethink my life plans later that year my mom moved into a better area, keeping god in the mix I knew everything happened for a reason, before having my child I took a break from school tired from being sick, lazy the pregnancy life got the best of me. After having her I jumped right into the working field, my first job was at Kroger, making $7.25 hr providing for my daughter working 40+ hrs, job-hopping from jobs. I was providing, but it was taking me away from my daughter, leaving her with my mother during the day and by time I get off from work shes sleep , i kind of lost focus on doing hair , still doing it here and there , I can remember having conversations with my god mother about doing hair and her telling me to not give up on my dreams, early in 2016 she was killed, shot in the head and taken from me in a blink of an eye , I went into a depression for nearly a year not wanting to do anything I lost my job , I couldn’t play with my child I was des-trot I felt my heart break in a million pieces , I knew I had to pull myself together and do what she would want me to do , I started doing hair full time because I wanted to make sure I could spend time with my daughter , now trying to build my clientele to a point I can truly just live off of doing hair is now my main goal , god is my provider and in due time it will happen I will keep going he will provide for my child and I, I see our future is very bright i will never give up , watch out. 🙏
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
being a stylist and single parent is definitely not an easy path trying to balance life and finding the clientele you want, but as long as you keep to it I feel god will see you through
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about RaeeXperience – what should we know?
I specialize in braiding kids and adults hair seeing those transform and glow after getting their hair done is what I live for, doing hair is not all about the money for me it’s more of seeing the joy in others , hair is my platform I also have plans to help senior homes by donating hygiene and cleaning products, reaching the youth is another project I’ll be working on letting them see as long as you continue to work towards your goals anything is possible , it’s not where you come from it’s where you are going. 💛
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My mom is my biggest supporter, she’s been my rock through this whole process from guiding me to letting me learn the hard way I thank god for her daily, she never gave up on me she pushed me, and she made me into the woman I and today.
