Today we’d like to introduce you to Raymar Dugarte.
Hi Raymar, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a Venezuelan woman who arrived in the United States in 2019 with my husband and our two year old son, full of dreams, faith, and a deep desire to start over. We arrived without help and without a support network, but with a very clear conviction to do things right from the beginning, legally and correctly. I began my journey in Miami working in a flower warehouse. It was a hard job, but I took it on with gratitude and with the certainty that every experience was part of the process of building a new life. Shortly after, the COVID-19 pandemic completely changed our lives and forced us to rethink our future. That was when we decided to move to Texas, to the city of Dallas, in search of stability and a real opportunity for growth. In Dallas, we started from zero. As an immigrant family, we did everything within our reach to move forward. I worked doing delivery through apps, at Amazon, in warehouses, in restaurants, and even selling homemade food. They were long days, physical exhaustion, and many nights filled with uncertainty, but I approached every job with a clear mindset to learn, grow, and move forward. I always tried to take something positive from each experience. I also obtained my forklift license in hopes of improving our income and opening new doors. In the middle of that process, my second daughter was born. Becoming a mother for the second time, far from my country and without close family support, strengthened my determination even more. Since then, I have been a full-time mother and a working woman, learning to balance home, parenting, and work with discipline and love. Throughout this entire journey, I have always had the unconditional support of my husband, the father of my children, who has been a fundamental pillar at every stage of this path. My aspiration was always to grow professionally and work in an office, knowing that this country offers many opportunities. I filled out applications, and even applied for positions at banks. Each time I went to an interview, I was rejected because it was in English. Many opportunities closed before I could even demonstrate my abilities. Every rejection hurt, but it also strengthened my desire to improve. Although many of the jobs I took were low paying, I never saw them as setbacks. I accepted a position at a Montessori school knowing it was not the best salary, but understanding that it would serve as a bridge to become more familiar with the language, build confidence, and continue growing. Every experience, no matter how small it seemed, contributed to my personal and professional development. I do not speak English perfectly, but I never allowed that to define my limits. Today, I continue taking classes to improve it and to communicate with greater confidence and fluency. For me, learning is not a stage; it is a permanent commitment to my growth. Along the way, we went through a very difficult experience that deeply marked our lives. We trusted an opportunity that seemed promising and ended up losing our savings. We were left in debt, credit accounts were opened in our name, and we were left with nothing. This happened because we trusted a friend who ultimately scammed us. It was a moment of pain and uncertainty, but also a moment of awakening. I understood that in this country, working hard is not enough; it is essential to educate yourself, stay informed, and prepare properly. I decided to train myself seriously and responsibly. I became licensed as a health and life insurance agent, trained as a tax preparer, and made a real commitment to continuous education and to complying with the requirements and updates that the industry demands, even those that not everyone considers important. From that process of learning, resilience, and purpose, TAXWYLIE LLC was born. Not just as a business, but as a mission to help Latina mothers, immigrant families, and people who are alone in this country understand that it is possible to start the right way, make correct decisions, and build a solid future when you work with education, integrity, and consistency. Today, I continue training, growing, and learning every day, guided by my family and by the desire to open a path for others.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Carving my path in a new country, as a mother, an immigrant, and without a family support network, was a constant challenge that required emotional strength, discipline, and unshakable faith. I learned that many doors do not open immediately and that, in order to move forward, it is necessary to endure, adapt, and continue preparing yourself even when the exhaustion is deep. However, one of the most difficult challenges I have faced was being the victim of a breach of trust. We trusted a person who presented themselves as a legitimate opportunity for growth and ended up using my name and my image as a front for a company. That person took advantage of our good faith, my condition as an immigrant, and the fear that often exists when you do not fully understand the system. The impact was devastating. Not only did we lose our savings, but I was exposed and faced legal issues, carrying a responsibility that did not belong to me. It was an experience that deeply affected my mental health, our financial stability, and my family’s peace of mind. The emotional exhaustion was intense; there was fear, uncertainty, and the feeling of having been betrayed at the worst possible moment. The hardest part was understanding that this person, being a U.S. citizen and fully knowledgeable of the system, took advantage of our vulnerability. For an immigrant, this type of experience is one of the hardest to endure, because it is not just money that is lost it is security, trust, and peace. Even so, I chose not to remain in pain. That experience marked a before and after in my life. It taught me the importance of staying informed, verifying every step, and not placing my future in empty promises. It also strengthened my commitment to doing things the right way, with ethics, preparation, and total transparency. Today, every decision I make and every service I offer is guided by that lesson. In addition to supporting more than 200 people who have trusted my work, I also strive to create opportunities for others by providing employment and ongoing training. I firmly believe in collective growth and in offering others the opportunity that, at one point, I did not have: to learn, prepare, and move forward with dignity.
