Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Price.
Rebecca, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Wow! So many things come to mind when I read that question. Well, I’m originally from Little Rock, Arkansas where I graduated from Central High in 2005. I was known as “the quiet one”. I hardly talked to anyone and spent the majority of my lunch days hiding in the library. Ridiculous I know. I started braiding at age 13 back in middle school like I was actually making money. I started in the beauty industry at a young age my mom played a huge role in that.
My mom is a very talented woman, I can say she rubbed off on me. Once my mom knew I had an interest in “doing hair,” she started having me help her braid or add extensions from time to time. One time, I dropped bonding on her hair which she still doesn’t know about. Trial and error, I tell you before graduating high school, I had become the family stylist. After high school, I went to college. Wasted money year after year, digging myself in debt trying to be something I wasn’t. Let’s just say that journey was not meant for me. God was showing me entrepreneurship the whole time and I ignored it. For the past three years, I have finally gained stability and loyal clientele I continue to pray for growth and knowledge.
Has it been a smooth road?
Yes, it’s been a smooth road for me with the help and support from family and friends, I survived.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I started Styld’ by Bek before graduating from Ogle Beauty School this year. I specialize in braiding, I’m very versatile when it comes to hair you want extensions; okay. How about your guy or son needs a quick cut or maybe you want to cover your greys; I’m your girl.
I’m proud of my company. I’ve been standing strong for three years now and looking to accomplish future goals. This industry is huge and the last thing I want to do is fade into the background. My quality, patience, personality, consistency, and versatility keeps me on top.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The DFW area is a great place to build a business. Everything you need is here, so many opportunities for the newcomers. I’d definitely recommend starting here is best. The networking streams are amazing.
