Meet Reece Woolsey of Wool-Z Apparel in DFW

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reece Woolsey.

Reece, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been creative since I was young. With the main intention of putting myself out into the world. Making Youtube videos at 15 just for the fun of it. But that’s what really started my creative adventure.

A year later, I felt like I could do more so I began thinking of the next best thing for me. In Sep. 2016 I designed my first logo, at just 16 years of age. I then went and bought five blank shirts and got my new design put onto them. This was how it all got started for my own brand, WOOL-Z Apparel. 2 years later I’m still going at it, trying to be more successful day by day.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As a creative, it’s almost never a smooth journey, but the struggles of it is what writes every individuals story. The hard times often teach and mold you into the person you are today.

As for the fashion world, time and financial problems are always at the top of the ‘struggle list’ but many times its a battle against one’s self. I often slow my process down by trying to ‘perfect’ my craft.

Making new pieces every day with the idea of it being better than the last is often too much to handle, but I have yet to fold.

Please tell us about WOOL-Z Apparel.
I am the founder of my own clothing brand. (WOOL-Z Apparel) A brand created after my own name. (Reece Woolsey)

I hand do my all my pieces from the design to the printing/pressing of each item.

I choose to put real meaning into the clothes that we all wear; every piece of mine has its own story. Making every piece from scratch with its own personality.

Getting booked for interactive pop-ups is what I do, I often will make custom tee’s for people on the spot at these locations that I get placed at. I enjoy giving ‘the people’ exactly what they want and believe having choices is the best part of making clothes.

I still believe I’m still too new at it all to know the answer of ‘what I’m known for’ I think there’s still more to brand I have yet to discover because the world is your canvas.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Learning about yourself is important and when put under pressure is when most of us get to find out who our true self is at the end of the day, the person who comes out of all the stress is what makes you, you.

I’ve learned most of my life lessons through the art of fashion.

I wouldn’t have really done anything differently if I could have done it all again, the one thing I might change would be pushing myself more, not letting other peoples opinions affect how my clothes have come out.
