Today we’d like to introduce you to Reggie George.
Reggie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I founded the Movement as a result of personal adversity. My wife and I are the proud parents of our twin daughters Kennedi and Kamdyn. On May 20, 2019 Kamdyn was assaulted and stabbed in the head with a pair of scissors by a 15 yr old male student. After having two brain surgeries, a massive stroke and week and a half in the ICU. She began months of therapy, where she learn to walk and talk again. As we dealt with her recovery, we were also dealing with the criminal case with the male student who stabbed her. In the midst of the court hearings, one thing became very apparent that being a Father/Father Figure to my daughters is saving their lives. As angry as I was toward this boy, the lack of a father/father figure is about to ruin a young man’s life. After observing in the courtroom, the lack of the male presence, I realized he has never received a father/father figure guidance. So, I decided to create The Father Figure platform and become an agent for change. As of today, The Father Figure Movement has a podcast, a fathers forum, and apparel as a result of my family’s adversity.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been a fairly smooth road, The Father Figure Movement, has received overwhelming support from the mothers in our community because of the need for the father figure platform.
