Today we’d like to introduce you to Remy Dupree.

Remy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The 3rd of 5 siblings. Born and raised in East Fort Worth, Texas to single mother of 5 Audrey Jenkins and grandmother Margie Jenkins(guardian) on October 11, 1994 (24 years old) Arieon Duty. I was the Middle child, also the different child of the house. Academically inclined (straight A student) and with the push of my grandmothers support, I became well rounded/trained in performing arts. I Danced from the age of (5 to 17) and coached majorette from the age of (17 to 23 ). I secretly picked up a curling iron, needle, and thread back in 2010 (age 15) inspired by classmate/bonus sister Jada Lawrence (owner of stylesbyjada). Graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High school 2013 where my alter ego Remy Dupree was introduced to the world. Attended Texas Woman’s University fall 2013 to major in fashion design/merchandising only to come to terms that I wanted to Pursue a career as a licensed cosmetologist after leaving clients my behind back home. Attended Ogle school of hair skin and nails in 2014 and obtained my cosmetology license. Worked as assistant manager of Boeau Belle Salon and Spa through beauty school, which opened the doors for me to provide behind the scenes work/services for the North American hair awards(NAHA) for then the creative director and education coordinator of the company at the time. Quit my job two months before beauty school graduation to provide my services as a full-time hairstylist, which I remain to this day In 2019. I Remy Dupree, am now the owner and CEO of “The RemyTouch Salon” and extensions line “The RemyTouch Collection.” Embarking on my 5th year as a licensed professional and a total of 9 years behind the chair as a whole.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been a smooth road. I went from only seeing maybe a few clients (5-6) weekly to having Regular returning weekly/biweekly. I lost my focus along the way from comparing my success to my peers.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a licensed cosmetologist/hairdresser. I specialize in all natural healthy HairCare (press, color, cut, as well as extensions of all types( bonded, sew-in, microlink, itips, fusion, tape-in). I’m well known for transforming natural hair, in a matter of an hour, you can go from tight curls and shrinkage to beautiful silky tresses that you no one knew you had under those curls and Afros. I can also give an undetectable microlink or itip install extending your natural curls or straight hair. The thing I’m most proud of about my company is that I built it from the ground up with a name that I made for myself (Remy Dupree). What sets me apart is that I’m not like any other stylist I bring my own sauce to the industry.

Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years? Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc.?
In the next 5-10 years, I see the hair industry evolving in a major way. I’ve noticed how we, as the new generation, are breaking traditions on how we run our businesses. We are creating trends indefinitely while also revamping/remixing hair trends from when we were coming up. Remy Dupree and The RemyTouch Salon/Collection will be a household name I assure you.
