Today we’d like to introduce you to Renèe Tacheny.
Renèe, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I wasn’t fortunate to grow up in the best family environment hence that being the biggest priority for me, I chose to bring my children up differently and that is one big reason that I love capturing family portraits. Photography was an outlet for me after my first and only class in 6th grade, where I learned all the basics and how to develop the film. My first camera was a shoebox! From then on, I was my family photographer and I never quit shooting. I did it as a part-time business from 1988 as I had a construction business as well, I shot nights and weekends for many years. After raising my three children, I began doing it full time in 2009. I shoot a wide variety of photography. I don’t feel that you need to be tied to one thing if you understand lighting and have great customer service skills and you love a challenge.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing in life is a smooth road that would be very boring. Realistically life shouldn’t be expected to be easy. Life is what we make it in my personal opinion and experiences. It’s all about perspective, how we choose to see it. Life is a problem. Living life is learning to solve them. 🙂
Please tell us about your company.
My company is about helping others find the magic that lies within themselves and bringing it out through the pictures I take, the portfolios we build together, and through educating guys and gals who are interested in working as models. I’m always creating and that has led me to expand beyond the usual wedding pictures and giggles and grins that still can make up a part of what I do. I finished out a warehouse space into a complete studio with backdrops and props for any purpose. We’ve expanded to offer pictures with Santa, birthday makeover events to jewelry photography and boudoir photography sessions. I’m proud that I’ve been able to build a real business that allows me to serve others and express myself creatively. I believe my relentless drive and energy to problem solve as a business owner and find ways to elevate my profession sets me apart. I’ve always been a doer, and I’m not afraid to stand up for what I think is best for my clients, the models I’ve helped train and get the very best result possible for everyone I work with. My faith plays a big role in my quest to do more each day to achieve the goals I’m meant to achieve. It’s given me the strength to move forward through the loss of my daughter and utilize all my skills to build my business. I’ve built props, hand-painted backdrops and even laid floors and did my paint and drywall to build out the studio. Ideas, positive thinking and just plain loving people I work with are my keys to future success. I’m excited about the next chapters!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Keep doing what I do most certainly, I love it and the people that I work with. I plan on creating an awesome studio to share with other photographers that wouldn’t otherwise have access to a full studio. Pretty much the same thing I do now living and loving this precious gift life!
