Meet Ricardo Baldi of Baldi Gardens in Arlington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricardo Baldi.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I founded Baldi Gardens in 1993, and have enjoyed almost 25 years servicing the landscapes of both commercial and residential clients throughout the DFW Metroplex.

Beginning as a way to supplement my primary income, my strong passion for the work and dedication to using premier horticulture techniques allowed the business to take off quickly.

Before we knew it, word began to spread throughout the DFW area of the quality and affordability of services being offered by Baldi Gardens, the company’s reputation began to grow and Baldi Gardens began to be known as one of the premier landscape companies in the Metroplex.

Over the years, the business has continued to see substantial growth and now employs over 15 dedicated, hardworking team members, many of whom have enjoyed 5 to 15 years with the company. The efficiency and unparalleled professionalism of this strong team is what differentiates Baldi Gardens from the competition in the DFW market.

Looking for an opportunity to take the business to the next level, Baldi Gardens joined the LandOpt network in November of 2012. LandOpt empowers an elite group of landscape contractors, across the U.S., with the systems and processes necessary to improve business performance in the key areas of sales, operations, business management, and human resources.

Through their time with LandOpt thus far, Baldi Gardens has already seen much improvement throughout the organization, and looks forward to receiving ongoing coaching and training.

Our hope for Baldi Gardens is to become the number one name in the DFW landscaping market both commercially and residentially. We believe that our continued commitment to improve customer service and customer satisfaction will be a driving force toward meeting our objectives as an organization. Additionally, our passion and dedication for the work that we do, in conjunction with the systems, structure, and coaching provided by LandOpt will be the propelling force that will enable us to successfully reach our goals.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, running a family business comes with its own challenges and the struggling economy at times has made it more imperative to ensure that our reputation as a premier service provider stands for itself. We’ve worked very hard to establish our reputation in the community and shake that perception of being “just another landscaper with a mower in the back of a truck.” We, like other landscape service providers, construction providers and many small businesses have found it hard to instill a talent pipeline of qualified, driven and motivated employees. The recruitment market is not always an easy one to navigate, especially when you’re recruiting people to work out in the hot Texas sun. We’ve managed however, to find some great ones, you just have to look harder at times, but they’re there. We’ve had our fair share of growing pains along the way as well. While the quick growth was amazing, it did take us some time to adjust to the new level of our business. Joining the LandOpt network in 2012 was a great resource for us during some of those rough times.

Above all else, Baldi Gardens couldn’t have gotten to where it has without the love and support of my beautiful wife Lilliana Baldi. She now works alongside me as our office manager and she has always been there to push us along the way. My son Giuseppe has also worked alongside me for many years and has help us to grow Baldi Gardens into what it is today. He’s truly been an asset to the company and I look forward to seeing how far he can continue to help us go. My other sons and my daughter have worked with us at various times and I’ve always loved to see how they could contribute to our success.
