Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Trimble.
Richard, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far. After having completed a BBA & MS, I decided I wanted to do a self-employed business in a creative field so I returned to university to get a Design Degree. During that time, I was able to do specifications for builders. They sold their homes more quickly and builders referred me to the new home owners. I also did show houses which helped me to get more public exposure. The best part of our business success is that my wife, Pat, runs the business aspect of our company. She was my accounting tutor.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome? Very few small businesses have a smooth road. You start with a business plan and try to become familiar with sources and establish accounts which can be difficult. Building a portfolio is very critical. Fortunately, I had several people mentor me which made a huge difference.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Richard Trimble and Associates, Inc. – what should we know? Our design business is run as a business. Our focus is on high end residential; both new builds and renovations. We are a full-service company that can take the client from the planning stage through art and accessories. But, we speak with anyone that has serious design needs. I’m proud of the results of a finished product and the client recommends me to their friends and continues to call about future projects. I’m most proud that we have a good reputation in the Design Industry.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success? Essential qualities show up on the application but on the other form we printed out it had Lessons learned.
