Today we’d like to introduce you to Rita Ne.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Rita. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story starts when my family and I immigrated to the US (Houston) from Taiwan when I was fourteen. My parents owned a laundromat and later a dry cleaning business in Houston, Texas. While attending high school and working at the family businesses, I learned English and important customer service and business skills.
After high school, I attended Baylor University in Waco, TX, majoring in Biology. After graduation, I continued my education at Baylor College of Dentistry to attain my dental degree. I pursued an additional year of postgraduate training at Hermann Hospital for General Practice Residency (GPR), where I learned to manage severely medically compromised patients and met my husband. Upon completion of GPR training, I practiced in various general practice settings, sharpening my skills as a general dentist. In 2001, I completed a 3-year endodontic residency at Baylor College of Dentistry earning an MS degree and a certificate in endodontics.
In 2002, I opened my first endodontic practice in Highland Park, building a strong referral base. I opened a second endodontic practice in Rockwall in 2009. (Both these practices were sold in 2013) In 2009, I also opened Root Canal Dentists to provide root canal treatment to the underserved Medicaid/CHIP community, and to make this usually expensive treatment more affordable to patients with or without insurance. This was a new concept in dentistry to provide specialty care focused treatment to patients who often don’t have many options to salvage their teeth.
Having practiced, owned, and managed practices in various demographics, I gained better understanding of the business of dentistry from a broad spectrum of experiences and a true appreciation of the needs of all patients. These “business building blocks” gave me the confidence to take on the project of opening 6 Bravo! Dental locations, to serve the needs of the Parkland Community Oriented Primary Care Centers (COPC) in Dallas County.
Aside from being a dentist and business owner, I am also a wife and mother of two daughters, Amanda and Avery. I often describe myself as “mother of 9” for the 2 kids, 6 Bravo! Dental offices, and Root Canal Dentists I am trying to grow. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, cooking, and watching my girls play sports like volleyball, soccer, and softball.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I prefer to call the challenges I have faced “learning opportunities” and there have been many along the way. Learning to speak English has to be one of the biggest challenges I have come across. In fact, I still have a long way to go with English, according to my 16 year old…
Professionally, building practices comes with all kinds of exciting learning opportunities; it takes time, persistence and setting realistic goals to craft a successful and ideal business. I have been lucky to have a strong team comprised of family, friends and staff behind me along the way. Building 6 Bravo! Dental practices in 6 months and having to balance all the pieces while driving the business forward has to be the most challenging project I have ever worked on. However, the reward of serving people in need is immeasurable.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Bravo! Dental – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Bravo! Dental offers a full array of general dentistry services and treatment for everyone, from small children to grandparents. Patients are seen in modern, state of the art facilities with all the latest technology. Bravo! Dental accepts PPO insurance plans, Medicare (with dental coverage) and Medicaid/CHIP. We offer our “TX Dental Plan”, which is an in-house, state certified discount plan to make our services affordable for everyone. We also offer Care Credit.
There are numerous advantages for patients to be part of Bravo! Dental. Our clinics are located inside the Parkland COPC facilities. Patients can attend other medical appointments while visiting the dentist in one stop. Another advantage of Bravo is that everyone is welcome, you do not need to be a patient in the Parkland system to be a patient of Bravo! Dental. We can serve everyone in the family, thus saving time from multiple dental appointments. Bravo! Dental also never has to turn patients away due to language barriers, thanks to many of our bilingual staff and doctors. We can speak English, Spanish, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Tagalog, Hindi, and more.
This statement reflects my professional mission:
I believe that it is my obligation as an owner/endodontist/dentist to provide my patients with the most thorough information and the highest level of treatment. It is our goal at Bravo! Dental to make certain our patients understand their dental health status, know their choices. Our patients’ dental health and comfort are our top priority.
What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
As a health care provider, I take pride in successfully helping each patient with their dental needs. It is extremely rewarding when a patient’s pain is relieved, when the aesthetic goals are achieved, and when there is a smile on a patient’s face. I am the most proud when my team takes pride in helping our patients as I do.
