Today we’d like to introduce you to Riz Moosa.
Riz, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I feel truly blessed because I grew up around music, fell in love with entertaining and found the world of weddings. Being a fourth generation drummer made me understand how music can influence people. At the age of 9, cover bands would ask me which songs would work and which they should skip. They couldn’t believe how right I was and kept coming back more often for my opinions.
I was born with a natural instinct of what music people would enjoy. Attending events were really hard for me as a child. On one hand I loved seeing people celebrate and on the other I would be so upset when anything was less than perfect with the music.
That’s when I found the world of djing. The ability to prepare for what I think the crowd would like would always excite me. The more I did it, the better I got. But it’s not just about preparing. The real difference between good DJ and a great DJ is the ability to watch a crowd and know what they will do next. This was something that most djs don’t have. I feel truly blessed that I could make adjustments live that would turn a great night into an unforgettable experience for couples along with their family and friends.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We enjoy challenges and finding ways to think outside the box to help our couples.
When decorators didn’t want to make room lighting dynamic, we bought great lights and figured out how to make uplights change with our music to give everyone an even better experience.
Videographers didn’t want to setup and manage projectors and screens. We figured out a way to bring in bigger screens that took less space and saved the day.
Photographers would turn on all the room lights because they weren’t able to take pictures in low light. We brought on a lighting technician to spot light and follow the bride and groom from their entrance, first dance, cake cutting and all major parts of the reception.
Bride & Grooms wanted more of a party feel for receptions. We became experts in dancing on a cloud, confetti canons, CO2 canons and indoor fireworks.
If our couples want something, we figure out a way to make it happen.

We are Mixed Culture and Indian Wedding DJ Experts. 2018 marks 24 years of us providing DJ & Lighting to thousands of couples. DJ Riz Entertainment has 12 amazing DJ’s that can play many different types of music and entertain crowds of all sizes. We can provide our couples with Uplights, Spot Lights, Monograms, Projectors, Screens, TVs, Confetti Canons, Dancing on a Cloud, CO2 Canons and Indoor Fireworks.
We have won multiple awards based on our quality of service and how much our couples love us. We make sure every wedding is a lot of fun and always unique.
We are truly blessed to constantly being venue and vendors favorite DJs and that always feels good.
Two things that come to mind that makes us very proud is helping wedding vendors and donating our time and knowledge to many non-profit organizations. Mentoring new businesses is something we are constantly doing to help people grow and become better. By donating our time, equipment and services to wonderful local, national and international non-profit organizations is our small way of giving back to make the world a better place.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our growth is coming in two places. Locally we are constantly pushing ourselves to come up with new ways to make weddings great. Our two newest offerings are a fresh rose canon and smokeless fireworks.
We recreated a bollywood movie scene with perfect production live for some of our couple’s first dances. We are able to make a perfect dancing on a cloud followed by a shower of fresh rose petals at the exact highpoint of the first dance.
Many of our couples love indoor fireworks and in the past they looked great when they first start but after a short while the room is filled with smoke and fire oder. We now proudly offer a cold fire solution which is much safer, doesn’t omit any oder and has no smoke. Our couples love this so much, we have stopped doing traditional fireworks because the new way comes out 10 times better in photos and video.
