Today we’d like to introduce you to Rob Dryman.

Rob, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a real estate investor in Texas and I am the managing member of I Buy Houses, LLC. I retired from the military in 2009 after a 20 year career in the USAF where I worked as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician. Once I retired I decided to pursue a much safer career in the Real Estate industry. I began my real estate career in 2009 as VP of Operations for a Property Management firm with 13,000 apartment units under contract.

In 2014, I started I Buy Houses, LLC to buy and sell single family homes. I live in Rockwall, TX with my wife and 2 kids who all help out with the business when needed. I also have a great team of professionals behind me that work hard every day, solving problems, analyzing deals, making offers, setting appointments and marketing our business. We focus on investing in neighborhoods close to home including Royce City, Fate, Rockwall, Rowlett, Garland, Sunnyvale, and Dallas. However, we also buy and sell houses in other state such as Tennessee, Oregon, and Idaho. When you sell your house to us you will be dealing with me and my team, a local business, not some national corporation.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We had success on the first 3 house flips and made enough money to keep the doors open for a year. The second year of business was almost our last! We purchased our largest investment in history, a $335,000 house in Dallas. We were hoping to resell for $415,000 after $10,000 in repairs, but the house did not sell. We had to remove it from the market, re-do the rehab @ $40,000. And sold the house for $399,000. With holding costs the company lost over $40,000.
