Today we’d like to introduce you to Robbyn Miles.
Robbyn, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My mother discovered my art talent at age four. Her words to me were “Practice Makes Perfect”! Those words stuck with me since then. I entered art contests from elementary to the high school winning first place. The first entry was at Booker T. Washington High School, the second entry was at Stephanie’s Art Gallery. And I was one of a few talented artists chosen to share my talent on The Deep Ellum Tunnel Mural Project in 1999. August 14, 2018, I decided to open up a small business in artistry from my home. Six years ago, I experienced a personal tragic incident that changed my life forever. That tragic incident took me back to the beautiful gift that God Blessed me with. Ever since then, I’ve been dedicated to my beautiful gift of artistry. I hope to touch others with my artistry as it did for me.
Has it been a smooth road?
Sometimes, the road is smooth but then when my Depression and PTSD hit me hard. I have to push even harder. I never knew Humble until my personal tragic incident directed me back to my artistry once again. It was years before the incident that I created any artwork. My tragic incident became my blessing within my artistry, some may not understand that! I have grown within my artistry with creativity more than ever!!!
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am the Queen of Artistry… lmbo! I created sketches (portraits), paintings and a little bit of crafting (jewelry)! I put art on just about anything. Art is freedom of expression!!!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, I do but believe it’s a good place for businesses like mines. But sometimes you may have to work just a little harder for support at first. Now, I do think there should be more of a supportive system outside of friends and family.
