Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Donnell.
The Kane family has been in the resale business for close to 30 years. Kristen’s father, Mark, began selling used CDs on the weekends at a flea market while in law school at SMU. Upon graduating, he decided to pursue the CD concept full time.
Fast forward many years to 2010. Kristen left her job in finance to join the family business. As a signing bonus Mark bought Kristen her first luxury handbag, a Louis Vuitton Neverfull. Kristen cherished the bag and to this day remembers the moment she got it. It was this moment that inspired Kristen to find a way to enable more women to experience their own joy in purchasing luxury bags. Leveraging her father’s track record in the resale industry Keeks was born. Keeks was a nickname I came up with for Kristen back in college when we met at UNC Chapel Hill. Kristen and I got married in 2013 and the following year I left my job in the consulting world to join Keeks.
Today, Keeks has 5 locations in DFW and is actively working on expanding to other markets (more on that coming soon!).
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There is always a learning curve in any business. The first store opened in Collin Creek Mall in Plano, TX where the bulk of the business was centered around Coach and Michael Kors. After about a year in that location, Keeks relocated to another mall in hopes of gaining more attention. It was challenging to see what felt like such a good concept struggle through its infancy. Ultimately, the business was re-centered around the core concept again, luxury. Keeks started to become known for Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, and other top brands.

At Keeks, customers save money on luxury and get cash back for things they no longer use.
Keeks buys and sells luxury handbags and accessories. We guarantee authenticity on everything we sell 100%. Our top brands are Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Gucci, but we also have many other brands represented like Celine, Goyard, and Fendi just to name a few.
While we do have an online presence, our main focus is on our retail locations. Online shopping as a whole continues to grow, but we find that many people like to see, touch, and smell (yes, smell) luxury items prior to purchasing. This holds especially true when it comes to used merchandise as it is often hard to get an accurate description of the condition through a few images and a brief blurb. Our retail shops also make returning a breeze.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I grew up in a small town in North Carolina, so the bulk of my time was spent playing outside with my older sister. It is hard to pinpoint one specific memory, but I just remember a blur of bare feet, grass stains, and mud, lots of mud.
