Meet Robert Fonner of Fonner Family Hearing Centers in Arlington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Fonner.

Robert, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Well, I personally came to work here in 2010 after the passing of my Father. He had been a stage 1 diabetic all his life and when my parents got married at 18, Mom was told that he would not live past 25. We credit her with keeping him around until he was in his 60’s.

The Fonner Family Hearing Center was started in 1971 by Robert Fonner (my grandfather) and wife Cornelia Fonner. In the early 80’s they sold the business to my Mother and Father Carl & Julie Fonner. I grew up in this business, whether or not I wanted to.

Growing up, I never wanted to work in the industry. Well, when Dad passed Mom needed help at the shop and I was 3 years into a 5-year program that would have made me a Dental Tech, making dentures. We had 3 Employees at the time I started, and I learned a lot. We started the process for me to get my Hearing Aid Dispenser License in 2014.

Unfortunately, Mom passed on Dec 22, 2015. A month before my final test. A few months before mom passed I met Emily. Emily and I just Married this last July and I don’t think I could have done all this without her. We now both work together at Fonner Family Hearing Centers. We are a true 3rd Generation Family owned company.
