Meet Robin Goldsby

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Goldsby.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, I’m Robin and I’m the owner of Reign’s Heir. I specialize in custom units(wigs). It all started as a side hustle back in 2017. I started wearing units and really enjoyed switching up my hair. I was working at Walmart at the time and a lady noticed my hair. She asked was it a sew-in and I told her that it was a wig. She asks if I made units for other people. I told her no because I wasn’t as confident to since I just only made my own. She implied that I should. I gave It thought and said WHY NOT!

As people began to inquire, I stepped out on faith and believed in myself to do so. My name began to catch traction in the city where I reside and it started rolling. What separated me from others was that I had a fast turnaround time and back then I was making units by hand.

Fast forward to 2019, I was pregnant and I HATED MY JOB! It was so stressful. I was pregnant doing a man’s job literally and my boss was a micro-manger! I would come home every day and cry to my husband. The only thing that kept me at this job was health insurance and benefits. As time got closer to my delivery date, I discussed with my husband how I wanted to quit! I told him that I made enough money with making units than I did sitting at the office. Of course, all men want security, so I understood that. After I had our daughter, I researched more while out on maternity leave because I was determined to quit the job I hated! I even made a budget sheet for our household to see if it was even possible for me to quit. It was possible but it was going to be tight! I had hustle in me and the passion so I knew I would be successful. After crying so much, my husband said it was fine to quit. Hearing those words lifted all the stress off of me! I had clients and a husband to support me, that was all the motivation I needed! I went back to work for two weeks and quit my job in September 2019. My husband and I discussed a three-month trial and made a deal that if this didn’t turn out the way I pictured that I would find another job starting in January 2020. I agreed.

Three months was enough time to prove to myself and my husband that I could do it! There were MANY late nights spent researching vendors, a lot of money invested, some money lost, and plenty of other things happening during this process. I prayed to God and I had to find self-motivation along with being a first-time mother all at the same time. IT WAS NOT EASY but it was well worth it. I sold my first unit with me providing the hair and felt like that was one goal achieved! That gave me a confidence boost. I reinvested the same $150-$200 and purchased more hair and sold another and repeated this cycle until I had enough money to by hair for three units. By December, I told my husband that I was not filling out any applications and he said with a smile I already know.

January 2020 was the slowest month ever for me! I got nervous and had an oh wow moment. I prayed and had a deep conversation with God. I had to be patient! February 2020 and its tax season, people began to order again! March 2020, we had the worst viral outbreak and the world shut down. As for our household, we were blessed to still be able to survive with our careers as we both worked from home. 2020 was a tough year for the world but it also helps build my business. Due to salons not being open, many women turned to wigs and I enjoyed servicing those ladies every step of the way!

Now we’re two years in and still successful! I enjoy meeting new women that want a new look! From beginners to the experienced wig wearers, they are all welcomed at Reign’s Heir.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not completely smooth. Entrepreneurship as a whole is not at all easy. There are ups and downs along the way, lack of sleep, and even misuse of investing in a product. Sometimes you can lose motivation if you’re not meeting your business’s financial goals. Or even if your product is not being pushed on social media. I’ve done it all but I never gave up and that’s key!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a custom wig designer. I make units (wigs) for your everyday person, cancer patients/survivors, hair loss, and alopecia patient of all ages. I specialize in sewing machine-made units and closure units (4×4-6×6) closures currently. I am most known for my fast turnaround time and quality of work. I’m most proud of myself for stepping out on faith, not giving up, and believing in myself. What sets me apart from others is that I treat my clients, new or old, all on a personal level. I keep clients update every step of the way. I send pictures and a video to them as well before I ship out the client’s unit. I also try to be as affordable as possible with my own payment plans as low as $50 that’s an option for clients as well.

I’m also a public figure on social media as well with my family. We are well known for our TikTok, The Goldsby Empire. So, if you would like to check us out, just follow us in TikTok.

What was you like growing up?
Growing up, I always had a bubbly and giving personality. My mother is a beautician so I practically grew up in the shop seeing everything firsthand. I wasn’t necessarily interested in becoming a beautician but I knew I had the skills If I ever needed to make a quick dollar. To be honest, I played so many sports that I only wore a side ponytail or braid. every now and then, I’d get a body wrap. I started out as a braider and use to love doing it. I didn’t become interested in weave until college and that’s where I started hearing of “Brazilian Bundles”.
