Meet Robin Jorgensen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Jorgensen.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
As a kid, I wanted to be an architect to build and design things. But one day I picked up a paintbrush and never looked back. An art teacher told my mom that I was going to be an artist one day. I was 8. But, like many other people, life took over and I joined many fellow creatives in the corporate world. The strong desire to create never left, though and in 2012, after many years, I started painting again. It was like meeting an old friend and picking up right where you left off. It was fate!

Please tell us about your art.
My work is a blend of conventional art and technology. I love experimenting with different techniques and mediums, exploring what each can do and how they interact with one another. This lead to my current work using photography, digital technologies and traditional painting. This process allows me to pull the viewers into my work taking them on a journey through balanced compositions and color combinations with a blend of abstraction and realism. My current series is based on life in a big city. Cities, to me, represent energy, excitement and opportunities. I hope the take away is with each new day, there’s inspired hope and dreams that are born. Every morning is a fresh start to a new beginning (of a new piece).

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Never give up and keep moving forward. For years, I believed the starving artist myth and that is what lead me not to follow my dream of being an artist for so long. I realized after many years, where there is a will, there is away. So, my advice when you come across a financial hiccup is to shift, pivot and figure out a workable solution. If you want something bad enough, you’ll figure out a way to achieve it.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I will be in The Other Art Fair with Saatchi Art at Dallas Market Hall hopefully in Sept 24-27, 2020. You can also find me on Instagram and see new work on my website as well.
