Meet Ron Katyal of Premier Smiles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Katyal.

Ron, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I really feel that the big events in your life are written, like what you are going to be, how many kids you will have etc. I feel that I was bred to be in this field. From working on cars my whole life and working with my hands it really helped me excel in working in such a small confined space. I graduated from The Ohio State University. I enjoyed the surgical and cosmetic aspect of dentistry so I then proceeded to complete my residency at Miami Valley Hospital. This gave me more of an opportunity to offer a broad base of procedures from implant placement, to cosmetics, and sedation. I recently moved from Ohio to start my practice here in Dallas.

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth road? No. But there is always struggle when you are trying to establish your own legacy. You can’t achieve anything without hard work. As the saying goes, if it was easy everybody would be doing it. However, I feel the biggest struggle is believing in yourself when times are hard. Staying focused and progressing forward when things are rough IS difficult. But it doesn’t matter, keep your eyes on the prize, push your fears aside, and keep pushing forward. Eventually it will all pay off.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Premier Smiles story. Tell us more about the business.
At Premier Smiles, our goal is to take the fear out of going to the dentist. I did extensive training and continue to do so I can provide my customers with the latest techniques and innovations to make the patient’s experience as painless as possible. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than hearing my patients tell me after a procedure…”Is that it?”, or “did you just give me an injection?”, or “you’re already got it out?!”. I know then I have succeeded. I want to eliminate all your fears of coming to see us. You are not just a number at Premier Smiles that is rushed out the door so we can fit in another patient or procedure. You will always see the same dentist. Here, you are treated like family.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The exciting thing is the technological advancement in dentistry. Implants are already taking over as the number one way to replace missing teeth. With the digitization of dentistry, the time spent in the chair will be greatly reduced, and time is the most priceless commodity on earth.

The only downside is the infiltration of Corporate Dentistry. Corporations will be seeing high volumes of patients and using cheaper materials to cut costs. It’s Big Businesses’ way of trickling into healthcare and trying to maximize their profit. In the end, in an industry where trust goes a long way for patients who already aren’t fond of going to the dentist, I can’t really foresee how it will benefit the consumer.
