Meet Ron Klabunde of Generosity Feeds in Northside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Klabunde.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ron. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After leading our community to create 40,000 meals, in less than 2 hours, with 450 volunteers, a local businessman asked, “What are you going to do with the meals?” The plan was to feed hungry children in a developing country. His reply was sobering, “That’s nice. Now, what are you going to do to feed the 60,000 in our community who are struggling with hunger?”

Six months later, Generosity Feeds was born. As of today, we have empowered 65,000 volunteers, in 29 states, to create 3.3-Millions Meals to feed 170,000 children who struggle with food insecurity. Our mission is to feed hungry children in every county across America.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest challenge my wife and I faced was investing the last of our money into Generosity Feeds so we could have the chance of feeding hungry children across America. This was our defining moment. If we didn’t write the check, millions of children in America would continue to live with food insecurity. By writing the check, we didn’t know if we would be able to feed or our children. That check emptied our bank account. We embraced the risk. Our dream has grown bigger than us with crazy success. We are constantly looking for new sources of financial capital to accelerate the vision to the next level.

Generosity Feeds – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Generosity Feeds an initiative of the Replenish Foundation. The Replenish Foundation is creating a wave of Generosity that inspires and shapes the health of communities across America. Our initiatives bring people together, establishing Generosity as the New Gold Standard. As a national for-purpose organization (501c3), we focus on building local engagement between community members, businesses, and non-profits. We are most proud of our ability to mobilize businesses, schools, non-profits, and community members in the shared value of Generosity to meet local needs.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by helping people live their highest potential. People are looking to do good and help others. We have figured out how to remove the entry barriers. Our success is measured by the number of volunteers, businesses, and organizations we empower as a force for good locally, nationally, and globally.
